5. Joe Scarborough Can (Figuratively) Lick My Nuts
"...projects a courageous front while cowering from our repeated attempts to get him to come on Scarborough Country to face the music.

But he won‘t.

Moore knows that unlike the shallow stars who worship him in Hollywood and France, (oh please!) we only concern ourselves with the facts here. (double oh-please!) And it‘s well documented that the facts are not on Michael Moore‘s side."

13. Heard Moore on O'Franken earlier ...

He's reluctant to do taped interviews. They go back and edit things around. Apparantly, this is what O'Reilly does as well to get the results he desires.

I'm sure that Moore would be more than happy to face Scarborough on live TV. You know damn well Moore would show up with questions about the dead intern found in Scarboroughs office.

He would NEVER willingly allow the FACTS about this incident to come out.

Moore should issue a public challenge to debate Scarborough in a public forum where Scarborough can't edit out Moore. Of course, Scarborough would stick his tail between his legs and decline the same way he resigned from Congress after affair rumors surfaced.

7. Armymom and Armydad's review of Farenheit 9/11
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 04:48 PM by armymom
As many regular Clark bloggers may know, but others may not, my husband and I are both Army veterans - and our oldest son, David, is an infantry soldier with the 1st Cav in Baghdad.

We just got home from seeing Farenheit 9/11, and it was an emotionally draining experience for us. It was a very well-done movie. Some of the Saudi-Bush stuff was a bit over the top, I thought, and there were some gory scenes of both civilian and military casualties, as well as a few vignettes that did not portay soldiers in a good light, but in toto, I felt like the movie was favorable to soldiers and their families. I wish that Moore hadn't included a few soldiers reveling in killing Iraqis and speaking in a dehumanizing way, but there were so many scenes and interviews with soldiers that depict things that our son has described to us, as well as many similar sentiments about the mission at present.

We went to a 130 p.m. showing in the Huntersville/Lake Norman, NC, area, which is fairly Republican. Not only was the theatre nearly sold out, there was an amazing cross-section of viewers - teens, middle aged, many elderly (a surprise to me), African Americans, grunge kids, college kids, you name it. There was much applause, laughter, and a few shouts at Bush throguhout the movie. At the end of the movie, a lady stood up and announced that she was handing out voter registration cards - and there were many takers, most of whom were young and/or African American.

There were several segments of the movie where we both covered or closed our eyes because it was hard not to imagine our son in place of the injured or dead soldiers depicted. It is for that very reason that I think everyone should see this film, because so many people don't have a clue what is really occurring in Iraq on a daily basis and how abandoned and betrayed many of our soldiers feel.

I know that our son will likely see this movie in Iraq this weekend, as pirated DVD's are available as soon as movies appear in theatres here. Ironically, we are apprehensive about David seeing it because of the political buffoonery it shows and the further demoralization that seeing the portayal of the Bush Administration in this light could cause.

We give the movie 4 thumbs up. Everyone should see this movie so that they can see the reality of the occupation of Iraq.

If you've lurked for a while, you probably know we're a rowdy and sometimes rude bunch but most everybody here is decent folk and I don't know of ANY who won't keep a good thought for your son. We know he didn't start this mess and we appreciate doing what he signed on to do.
Best wishes.

mike1963: I'm a Clarkie, so I can handle rowdy and rude! Thanks for the kind words about our son. He and his buddies are just trying to survive over there, and need us to fight the political battles for them here at home. I've written extensively about our family's experiences in this war on the Clark and Kerry forums, but am new to this one.

if you don't mind, I'm going to start a thread of its own, as you're a military family, with loved-one there, AND living in a conservative area....

the response at your showing is gratifying/edifying, and needs widespread distribution

PLEASE send it to michael moore's site

they might want a real name, in order to publish it, but I'll bet they will

21. MM website
How do I get there? I want to make sure that everyone sees this movie. If any of you want to cut and paste my review and disseminate it, feel free to do so. I got sick seeing some of the damn Chickenhawk pundits and politicians who have never served nor sent their own children to fight the war they claim to support dissing this movie. I think my e-mail is also linked to the DU site, so contact me if additional info is needed. I normally homestead at the Clark website, and posted alot at the Kerry forum too, all under the same blog name.

My prayers are with your son and the others over there, and with you and your husband and the families of all of our troops. I join you in prayer that the madness will end and they will get to come home soon. Thank you for sharing with us your and your husband's impressions.

May God Bless You Both and your son and all of our troops.

ps: We here at DU do support our troops, so if you want to share an address, I know that I would be honored to send him a care package. I will send you an email.

Thanks for your review. I haven't seen the movie yet, just the trailers, but I find your take on it, as both veterans and parents of an active duty soldier, very interesting, if not somewhat surprising.

I would like you to know, that as someone who marched in the streets with my family before the war, in order to express opposition an invasion, that I truly hope your son returns safely, and soon.

25. Hi armymom and armydad!
I'm a fellow Clarkie! Welcome to DU!

:toast:

My spouse and I are both Air Force vets and we also went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 today at the first possible matinee. We have a loved one in Iraq, too. My husband's brother is in the Army National Guard (he's one of the 'back-door draftees' because of the stop-loss order) and he is stationed in Mosul.

The movie was particularly hard-hitting on my usually unflappable husband. He had to stay in the theatre until well past the time that the lights came up because he was still too choked up and had to regain his composure. After we left the theatre and were talking about the movie his tears turned to rage. He's angry at all the people who can't see what the hell is happening to this country right before their very eyes. Angry that his brother is risking his life and separated from his wife and young children because of a lie. Angry that so many Americans supported this war because they had no worry that anyone that they loved would ever have to go.

Please send your son our best and tell him that we wish him a speedy return home! Also, thanks for your great review. And, once again, it's great to see a fellow Clarkie on the DU board!

23. Heck yeah!
And my husband voted for Shrub...converted to the Dem party in January...and laughed louder than I did at Shrub in F 9/11. Our son is only 18 - and he is registered as a Democrat too! Don't fall for that BS that opposing Bush is harmful to our soldiers. If we thought for a minute that was true, we wouldn't be as outspoken. It is the love for our son that is making us more vocal!
