And my sold-out theatre in Fort Myers, FL went wild with applause....
I arrived at 4:30 for the 5:15 showing and was immediately happy I'd pre-purchased my ticket. The show had sold-out and there were people outside waiting for 30 minutes to see the movie tomorrow. Not surprising, this is the only theatre showing the movie in a 60 mile radius. They'd added a 2nd screen but that wasn't enough either. They had 7 showings today, all are or were sold-out.

A news truck was out front with a pretty black reporter giving a short interview from the scene. Cool stuff.

At the end of the film, 200 (maybe more) people stood up and gave the film an ovation.

On the way out, I spotted a guy leaving the theatre wearing a Bush/Cheney04 shirt. I put my arm around his shoulder and said, "you may not be that smart, but at least you're brave."

His answer, "Well, I was smart enough to see that movie."

And he smiled and went his way.

1. Wow
The overwhelming response to this movie is going to prove Michael Moore right. We are the majority! And we're coming to take our country back! :headbang:

2. Report from Houston
I'm a Libertarian who lurks here frequently. Here is a report from Houston on F911.

The theater showing F911 and that is closest to me was sold out for all shows today. I bought 4 tickets for tomorrow afternoon after the cashier told me they expect to me sold out for tomorrow, as well. I believe this movie theater is showing F911 on least 2 screens.

10. Welcome Libertarian!

A good friend of mine is a Libertarian. We've often had great arguments/discussions. I like him because he's fair and though I disagree with him on many tax issues we agree (I think) or more than we disagree. Particularly the area of civil rights.

If you're fair minded, you'll probably love the film. He takes some liberties with his own opinion but overall, it's a fantastic movie. He has, thank god, the right to document what he sees. That's what makes our country great. No matter how bad things go, we can always overcome through common sense.

12. No, not in Naples, yet
The AMC Merchant 16 in North Fort Myers is the only theatre south of Sarasota playing the film on the west coast.

For now that is. If this film makes as much money as I think it is going to, on less than 900 screens, it will be playing everywhere next weekend.

6. I was all set to go and see it... And typical Alabama Redneck logic
says "NO!"

It's not showing in North Alabama, Middle Tennessee, or Birmingham. It looks like I'll have to drive to Atlanta or Nashville to see it.

Christ, I'm in a Gulag named America.

7. It *IS* playing in Birmingham!
It is playing at the new Rave Patton Creek 15 in Hoover. I got my tickets online today. It's also playing in Montgomery and possibly Huntsville. I saw something about Huntsville on an email list yesterday. Let me know if you need further information about that.

9. Thank God! The Yahoo site said no on B'Ham & Hsv.
If you have any info on Hsv showings, please pass it on! Otherwisw it's a trip to B'ham tomorrow. Hell, it'll give me time to listen to more of Bill reading "My Life."

Thanks!

13. Hi, libby
Welcome to DU! I'm seeing it at the Rave Patton Creek too, hopefully tomorrow if I can get a sitter. I don't think it will be sold out, but who knows?

8. Billy, I heard that Carmike Theaters picked it up in rural areas. Have yo
checked their website? That other site that was posted on Du from another theater chain was very limited.

Also are you sure there's NO art cinema near you? Ususally there's one near a university. I can't believe Alabama is worse than SC but SC has it showing in three different cities.

14. Not in Huntsville
Hollywood 18 in Hsv was supposed to have it, but they cancelled. If you're planning to come to B'ham I would suggest you get your tickets before hand online. I have a hunch it might sell out. Most of tonight's showings are sold out and the 8pm for tomorrow is already sold out. Here's a link.http://www.movietickets.com/house_detail.asp?house_id=8674&ShowDate=1

Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 09:34 PM by JellyBean1
Maybe 90% sold-out at 7:35pm showing. People subdued. Standing ovation at end. At lot of grim faces and red eyes exiting.

This overwelmingly republican area, at least it was last election.

Edit: Lady in Kerry for pres T-shirt passing-out voter registrations and applications for poll workers before and after show.
