Yet another just returned from F9/11 thread..standing ovation (Danvers MA)
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 09:52 PM by plastic_turkeys
Danvers, Mass., sold out and a standing ovation at the end. It was weird being in a Loew's theatre which Carlyle just bought and have the film highlight the Carlyle/Bush connections. I'm sure that it wouldn't be shown once the deal closes. What a powerful piece of movie, especially when the freeper type woman shouted at the mother who lost her son in Iraq that she was "staging" her grief.

1. DO WHAT - a freeper was shouting at the scene
with the grieving mother? You have got to be kidding me. Some freepers are so low. How did the other theater goers react? I hope they booed her out of the theater.

3. No, in the movie, when Lila goes to the White House
There is a woman out there who tells her she should "blame Al Qaeda" for her son's death, and accuses her of "staging" her grief for Mike's cameras.

10. That confrontation was hideous
When the freeper woman accused Lila of lying, and gets *right into her face* with self-righteous indignation and says, "Oh YEAH? What day (did he die)?". Poor Lila is completely absolutely knocked off guard by this, can't believe what is being said and inferred about her. But she recovers herself and finds the strength to get the words out. "Karbala."

She walks away, and finally just collapses in grief and disbelief that any fellow American could speak so cruelly to her, after her son has given his life for his country.

I didn't breathe throughout this. My god, I ached....

But this is the state of things these days. Because Lila wasn't reacting in the "pc" (Patriotically Correct) manner, her very real sacrifice was ridiculed and doubted. Max Cleland knows how that feels too.

No -- the freepers don't give a SHIT about this country, nor for the troops -- it all comes out when the soldiers and their families don't act according to the official script....

The most touching tribute to soldiers I have heard in many years was Moore's speech at the end of F911. It floored me with its unrestrained love and patriotism. He sure spoke for me, and all the Americans I know....

4. No, actually it was in the film...
I won't describe the scene, spoiler and all, but of course in the great liberal fantasyland that is Massachusetts there were no freeper types to be found.

9. Oh, it was in the movie. I haven't seen it yet
as it is not showing in my area. I will go to New Orleans to see it soon, probably after the 4th weekend.
Thanks for clarifying that for me.

2. The mother tore me to shreds
And the Iraqi woman who was grieving so. I think everyone in the theater was sobbing.

6. Knoxville, Tennessee - SOLD OUT at 2:30 p.m.
I saw it with a full house. Broad spectrum audience, all races, genders. At least 1/3 of the audience was older folks (60+). Standing O at the end; universal disgust with Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, et al.

Audible gasps at the business ties, especially James Baker and his representation of the Saudis against the 9/11 families. Hamid Karzai's UNOCAL ties were also met with incredulity.

All the shows were sold out in this Republican East Tennessee theater. I didn't hear any boos, but everyone was sniffling when the Flint, Michigan mother was at the White House's Berlin Wall.

The ending was perfect....."You fool me, you can't get fooled again".

I'm heartbroken over seeing Al Gore gavel down his House supporters at the start. What a man.

7. That freeper woman is up on screens across
the Nation..her stupidity and malice magnified a million fold.

I would love to have been where there was a "standing ovation".

Lot's of laughter and tears though.

8. It's a pity, I wonder if she knows she is a movie star
She gets my "Best villain in a motion picture" award. Bitch.

11. Straight Outta Minnesota
Saw it in the Twin Cities, MN suburbs today. First show of the day, and it was packed. People must've applauded at least five times during the movie, and then of course at the end.

And that woman is a total bitch. I would've slapped her -- who the hell does she think she is, telling a woman who has lost her son that her grief is a lie? Disgusting.
