Just Came from F 9/11
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 09:25 PM by eaprez
In Columbus Ohio. The theatre wasn't sold out for the movie. Lots of seats were still open - HOWEVER - 7:05PM on a Friday is not a great time for movie going if you have to get home from work, get dinner, cash checks, etc.....when we left there was a much bigger crowd standing in line to get into the theatre. No new revelations for me --- however, it was still rather shocking to see it all laid out like it was. Although there was clapping, crying, laughing (movie was well done) - I thought the audience was kind of subdued - however the movie got enthusiastic applause at the end. Funny, I've seen several local interviews on tv with people who had seen this - even one of the newscasters himself said - he was a Republican, he'd seen it and he is angry and won't be voting for Bush.

Oh...going in was very, very weird. They had a police offier standing by the entrance to the stadium we went into. That was odd. Policemen sat in the theater as well. Also they lined us all up and checked our tickets individually - something they don't normally do before you go into the individual stadium.

2. Just saw it myself...
The theater was packed, and there were no trouble makers. I am also a frequent Randi listener and although she can be annoying, many of the things she talks about was in the moive. Moveon.org was outside handing out brochures. I stoped by and said hello.... :toast:

3. wonderful movie
saw it here in Columbia, SC at 4:15 PM. The theater was nearly packed -- guess a lot of people left work a little early. There was applause at a few scenes during film and a standing ovation at the end! One movie goer even shouted: vote Democratic in November!!!!

This is big folks cause SC is generally written off as Bush country.

BTW, the line for the 7:00 PM crowd line was long; I can only imagine the crowd for the last showing at 9:00ish. The word is spreading and the turnout and reaction is an in your face 'FUCK YOU' to the media mouthpieces and smarmy film critics who've been disparaging Moore and the film.

:bounce:

4. It is the economy silly!
I think that the economy is making more people rehtink the 8-9 dollar ticket for a late show when they can make plans for saturday or sunday morning. Its not like you are gonna have a lot of kids in the movie (thanks to the FEC).

6. I read somewhere on line
that some groups were organizing to disrupt the movie in certain areas. So, some theaters have hired police to keep the disrupters out. Plus, if I owned a theater and was showing F9/11, I might be checking to make sure no one sneaks in.
