Just back from seeing F- 9/11 in Rochester MN and got one thing to say
Who ya gonna believe - Rush, Hannity, O'Really, tucker and the rest of the gang or your own lying eyes?

What a great movie. Brilliant use of images, silence, music and humor.

In Rochester the one theatre showing the film switched from one screen to two. When I bought tickets at noon the movie was in auditorium 8. By the 7:00 show it was in both 8 and 9, take your choice. I went to 9 because 8 was full 15 minutes before show. 9 was 85 to 90% full.

Keep in mind that Rochester with the Mayo Clinic and an IBM plant is a very RW stronghold.

1. One thing that I think will be overlooked in this movie...
Moore also critizes Daschle (Democrats) for going along with the war...

3. The scene where not one senator would vote in support of the African
American Caucus was horrible, too. Both scathing indictments on our MIA Dems

4. Not overlooked by me. Their non-support of the Black Caucus was
shameful. These people had the guts to stand up for America in the face of a very un-kind America towards them. This was the most striking part of the movie to me and the most shameful as a Dem.

26. Well said
Exactly how I felt.

I pumped my fist in the air in the theater when I saw Maxine Waters and the others say, "No, Mr President (to President of the Senate Al Gore), I don't have a Senator (to support the motion to investigate the election), and I don't care".

and she deserved every bit of it. I'm furious at our Senators. I had absolutely no idea that happened.

34. it disappointed me
but in their defense, it was a lost cause

if a senator had signed on, they would have been quickly outvoted by a GOP majority

not really an excuse, but that's probably the reason no one helped the CBC

5. Gep, too.
The tiny bit of attention Moore gave Daschle and Gep made them look IMPOTENT. I appreciate Gephardt, but he shouldn't be the running mate. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think a cardboard box can beat Bush. Kerry can (and I think WILL) beat him, but he'd better pick a good running mate.

I think America needs to be inspired again, so Clark or Edwards works for me.

10. Pretty scary.
But what can you do about it? Daschle and Gep are both wonderful people (as far as I know). And I know...we were all afraid. I don't know what I'd have done if I were them...but I hope I would have asked more questions. Maybe they did...I hope someday we find out.

the Dems have been shameful for quite a while. I know they're scared, but the fact is, all of us are in one way or another. That isn't an excuse.

8. I think there is 95% regret amongst the Dem Senators...
Over what's in this movie about the Dems. Especially that disgrace with the CBC members pleading for Senate support. The only problem I think is it got buried at the beginning of the film. I'm positive the vast majority of elected Washington Dems wish they could change some things that have happened in the last few years, but I hope this will wake them up to the truth of the battle we face.

9. It's very encouraging when F911 sells out in RW areas :-)
Who ya gonna believe - Rush, Hannity, O'Really, tucker and the rest of the gang or your own lying eyes?

That's what makes it so powerful ... and damning! I haven't seen it yet, but I've seen clips and read all the DUer reports and from what I understand, Moore really doesn't do much to make Bush* look bad. He just puts the facts up on the screen and let's them speak for themselves. How can people say Moore is lying or that he's not being fair when Bush* is the one saying the words? Moore didn't say "Now watch this drive" or "The haves and the have mores. Some call them elitists. I call them my base." Bush hangs himself!

11. The fact that they went from one screen to two
shows creative projector threading. Realize that the theater would have had only one copy of the film.

The projectionist set up the film so it would first go through projector one (screen 8) and then over to projector two (screen 9) and the two showings would have started more or less simultaneously.

Am I right?

My son works for an AMC theater, and a while back they simply kept on selling tickets for whatever the most popular movie that day was, and simply cancelled the showing of something else, and accommodated all the people who wanted to watch the popular one.

I'm looking forward to seeing them doubling the number of theaters.

All these sold out showings are just amazing.

21. Thats what they would've done
threaded between the two machines, I think the most complicated bits would've been the legal issues. Opening another screen, permissions from the home office, and the cancelling of the least popular film.

29. I'm pretty sure there are no legal issues
or permissions needed from the home office. The time it happened at my son's theater, it was simply a decision made by the manager on duty. Don't turn away business to the more popular film. Maybe three people showed up for the cancelled one, if that many.

And you can always give a free ticket to the ones whose film was cancelled -- costs the theater practically nothing and earns good will.

Keep in mind, the theaters themselves make nearly all of their money on concession stand sales, rather than the price of the ticket.

32. Welcome, REVOLT!
I lived in Indy from age 10 to 16 and went to Broad Ripple High School for two years. I thought I was a Republican back then (still under my parents influence!) I even campaigned for Richard Lugar for mayor (I still regard him more favorably over most other Republicans.)

Glad to hear about the positive reaction and hope you like it here on DU!

its a nice area. Pretty. I'm real familiar with Luther College in Decorah. Spent alot of weekends there in my younger days. Later dated a gal who grew up in Decorah - we were both living in Texas at the time. She beloved in Rush Limbaugh, though, so that wasn't going to work out!

Its a small world, huh?
