Rethuglicans JUSTIFY Hitler Ad!!!! mass email sent out...
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 11:27 PM by Rosco T.
... which I manged to snag a copy of... have these people no SHAME?

------------------------------------------------

Dear xxxxx,

On Thursday, the campaign launched a web video titled Kerry's Coalition of the Wild-eyed. The video featured Democrats who support John Kerry making negative and baseless attacks against the President. Interspersed in the video were segments of two ads that appeared on a website sponsored by MoveOn.org - a group campaigning for Kerry - in January.

On Friday night, John Kerry's campaign denounced our use of these ads, and called that use "disgusting."

The Kerry campaign says, "The use of Adolf Hitler by any campaign, politician or party is simply wrong."

We agree. These ads, like much of the hate-filled, angry rhetoric of Kerry's coalition of the Wild-eyed, are disgusting.

* Where was John Kerry's disgust when he hired Zack Exley - the man responsible for encouraging the production of these ads as part of a MoveOn contest - to run the Kerry campaign's internet operation?

* Where was John Kerry's sense of outrage when Al Gore, just yesterday afternoon, compared the Bush Administration to the Nazis saying, "The Administration works closely with a network of 'rapid response' digital Brown Shirts who work to pressure reporters and their editors for 'undermining support for our troops.'"

* Where was John Kerry's anger when Al Gore in May spoke of "Bush's Gulag"?

* Why has John Kerry not denounced billionaire and Democrat Party donor George Soros for comparing the Bush Administration to Nazis. Soros stated, "When I hear Bush say, 'You're either with us or against us,' it reminds me of the Germans. It conjures up memories of Nazi slogans on the walls, Der Feind Hort mit ('The enemy is listening')."

* Why has Kerry not spoken out against filmmaker Michael Moore who last October compared the Patriot Act to Mein Kampf. "The Patriot Act is the first step. 'Mein Kampf' - 'Mein Kampf' was written long before Hitler came to power."

We created this web video to show the depths to which these Kerry supporters will sink to win in November.

Is this the Democratic Party of Franklin Delano Roosevelt who reassured his countrymen we have nothing to fear but fear itself?

No. This is John Kerry's Coalition of the Wild-eyed, who have nothing to offer but fear-mongering.

Sincerely,

Ken Mehlman
Campaign Manager

Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 11:30 PM by WillW
Did we not denounce the brown shirts and gulag remarks? Because when you're talking about Bush and his goon squad, it's all true. Soros and Gore were being too kind. Fuck you Ken Mehlman.

3. Huh?
Where was John Kerry's disgust when he hired Zack Exley - the man responsible for encouraging the production of these ads as part of a MoveOn contest - to run the Kerry campaign's internet operation?

Kerry's somehow responsible for the activities of EVERYONE affiliated with his website? Even webmasters and technical people?

Where was John Kerry's anger when Al Gore in May spoke of "Bush's Gulag?"

Al Gore is working for the Kerry campaign? When did this happen?

Where was John Kerry's sense of outrage when Al Gore, just yesterday afternoon, compared the Bush Administration to the Nazis saying, "The Administration works closely with a network of 'rapid response' digital Brown Shirts who work to pressure reporters and their editors for 'undermining support for our troops.'"

Sounds like a statement with a lot more credibility than the Bush ad.

Where was John Kerry's anger when Al Gore in May spoke of "Bush's Gulag"?

Is Al Gore Kerry's evil twin? What accountability does the one have for the other's words?

Why has Kerry not spoken out against filmmaker Michael Moore who last October compared the Patriot Act to Mein Kampf. "The Patriot Act is the first step. 'Mein Kampf' - 'Mein Kampf' was written long before Hitler came to power."

A lot of people have made similar comparisons regarding the Patriot Act. Some of them in Bush's own party.

6. What Republicans said about Bill Clinton
http://www.thememoryhole.org/pol/bush-hitler-ads.htm

From "In the Loop" column by Al Kamen, Washington Post, 28 June 2000:

Trivializing Evil

There's something about Bill. President Clinton has always had an extraordinary knack for driving Republicans--and often Democrats--absolutely 'round the bend. How else to explain the recurrent comparisons to Adolf Hitler that keep surfacing when folks talk about Clinton and his administration?

For example, retiring Rep. Helen Chenoweth-Hage (R-Idaho), commenting on one of Clinton's national monument designations, said, "This president is engaging in the largest land grab since the invasion of Poland."

Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) went a bit further a couple of weeks ago when Clinton designated Arizona's Ironwood Forest a national monument. "I would draw a parallel to Hitler," Shadegg said. "He eroded the will of the German people to resist evil."

Our favorite is Arkansas Republican Rep. Jay Dickey's recent fundraising letter reminding supporters they can give him $1,000 for the primary and another $1,000 in the general election campaign. He doesn't want anyone to "later . . . say to me that I should have reminded you of the threats," he said.

"Just as people who read Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' and then later were surprised at the evils of the 3rd Reich ," Dickey said, "we have the blueprint for what the White House plans to do: defeat me! This is because I not only dared to vote my conscience on the impeachment issue, but dared to do it after a publicly expressed threat that I would lose the election if I did. Are we going to let an astounding abuse of power go unanswered?"

Election defeat and gas chambers? Folks who survived or lost close family in the Holocaust might be offended at this trivialization of evil.

8. The Bush campaign accuses Democrats of fear mongering
Pot, meet kettle.

Besides, the Bush administration has set up a network of Gulags for the war on terror where the rights of detainees are routinely and brutally violated. Deal with it, Ken.

Otherwise, Bush does have a long ways to go before catching up to Hitler. Hitler murdered millions. Bush still only has a few thousand to his credit.

12. I sure hope this makes them run the ad. It's the best Dem ad ever!!
Seriously, I didn't think they made windowpane acid anymore, but I can't imagine what Rove, Karen and the gang were dropping when they approved this crazy ad. I hope it runs every hour on the hour until Election Day, so that we can all be continually reminded about how much Bush resembles Hitler when he holds his arm out like that, and what a "miserable failure" he is.

17. Actually, the e-mail reply isn't a bad plug either!!! Get's some of the
best tidbits of Gore's speech another play. And the FDR quote - priceless when folks just stop to think about it and relate it to the Patriot Act, Homeland Security, the "Bert and Ernie" alerts, etc, etc, etc. When you think about it, we went to war thousands of miles away from home on the fear that someday Saddam is gonna getcha.
