1. I think it's a little too late to try that crap now.

I really think that way too many people are going to see the next huge crisis for what it is. Namely, either a total failure on the part of this administration, or an excuse to impose martial law (which is basically what the protocol is for a red terra-lert, IIRC). I believe that if they tried to pull that shit now this whole country would erupt into complete chaos, if not outright civil war.
