1. It's bound to bring in even more today...

...with the matinees and fewer people working. Amazing. Michael Moore has a midas touch.

6. Yes, when I looked on the I-net Fri...
many theaters had signed on after the threat from the FCC was resolved.

I went to a local theater that hadn't even advertised in the local newspapers as of yet. It was packed to capacity. We got the last two seats together. The rest of the patrons had to randomly split up..But they didn't care. Everyone in the theater were as brothers and sisters..

Well, I knew that was a possibility when the 20-plex theater I went to had only one line waiting outside the doors... and it was for Fahrenheit.

10. On only 868 screens....that's the key
Most high profile movies are on between 2000-3000 screens their opening weekend.

14. Is that Screens or Theaters?
Some theaters have been putting it on more screens than expected, especialy for midnight shows when they have the capacity.

Metreon had it on 2 screens during the day and evening yesterday,
(they had it on 1 originally, but added a bunch of shows)
and then had shows at 11:50PM, 12:10AM, 12:30AM and 1:30AM
which has to be 4 screens going at once.

21. Elsewhere they say Theaters
I see the number of screens (if one counts multiple screens in the
same theater) has already increased as theaters have added shows.
One theater ran 4 near-or-after-midnight shows, the last one starting
at 1:30 in the morning.

It could be the number of prints that were made.

One theater can run multiple shows with the same print by staggering
the shows the length of one reel of film.

11. Boxofficeguru.com projects $21M-24M weekend gross
based on Friday's numbers:

"President Bush conquered the box office on Friday, with a little help from Michael Moore, as the controversial documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 opened at number one with an estimated $8.1M in its first day of nationwide release. Playing in only 868 theaters, the Lions Gate/IFC Films release averaged an astonishing $9,378 per location in just one day. Fahrenheit blasted past all industry expectations going into the weekend as media hype surrounding the R-rated film sparked immense interest among moviegoers. For the weekend, the anti-Bush doc could gross $21-24M."
http://www.boxofficeguru.com/062604.htm

His original estimate was $15M: http://www.boxofficeguru.com/weekend.htm
