Freepers in F911
There were two freeptards that I saw in the film. The first one was that revolting soldier singing "burn motherfucker." The other was that nosy woman who decided to jump in and tell the mother who'd lost her son in Iraq what a great and honest guy Bush was.

Were there any others?

3. One of those recruiters seem a little "driven".
I think telling someone that the it helps to prepare for a career in music by joining the marines is a little misleading.

Targeting the poor malls pisses me off in general, though.

4. Maybe a career in music in the military means playing taps on the bugle

9. no, bugle players are unavailable
so they use tapes to play taps. And they are running out of Guardsman to attend the funerals. Next thing, is gonna be a video taped play of an actor dressed in uniform playing a taped version of "Taps" while the casket is lowered. Gaud Dammit, we shouldn't be burying any of our sons and daughters for this fucking regime.

5. yeah, those recruiters were nasty liars
my young marine friend was told she would get language school. Then they put her to work repairing aircraft- said she didn't get the security clearance for language school. They'll tell you anything to get you.

6. The music for the recruiters scene
sounded like the riff for "Stayin' Alive" ("Well you can tell by the way I use my walk..."). I kept waiting for the chorus to kick in, but even hearing the instrumental part cracked me up.

That scene made the point beautifully.

7. Another example
Thanks for the reminder. A neighborhood young man I know (really great guy) went into the marines a couple of months ago. He wanted electrical engineer training, or something like that. When he got there, they told him his eyes weren't good enough for that program but they had an opening in the infantry for him. I couldn't believe it! You mean the vision standard for the infantry is less than engineering?

His buddy went in at the same time. He was supposed to go into communications or computers. They told him that they just discovered a DUI arrest in his record, so he wasn't eligible for the field he wanted. SURPRISE! They could put him in the infantry, though.

8. Actually
I felt bad for the soldiers at the beginning of the war who were treating it like a game, because you knew that they would become like the soldiers at the end evendutually.

That woman and the recruiters are going to burn in hell, though.
