Bush is *not* Hitler!

All those comparisons are inaccurate. Here is why.

In his early years, adolf Hitler was poor. While from a middle class family, he lived a very poor bohemian lifestyle as a student.

Bush came from a rich family and never knew what it was to be poor.

Hitler was devoted to his mother, she also loved him.

Bush was raised by a cold distant harridan whom he very likely was terrified of.

Oh, sure there are the political things, which make them very similar, such as the Recihstag fire and 9/11, the Enabling Act and the Patriot Act, the invasion of Poland, the invasion of Iraq, and so on, but think of this:

Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Germany, built roads, the Autobahn, airports and infrastructure. Bush has presided over the deterioration of the American infrastructure.

Hitler began the "Kraft durch Freude" (Strength through Joy) programs which sent poor families on vacations in the countryside. He pioneered the Volkswagen (Peoples' car) to make certain poor people could enjoy healthful air and afford an automobile.

Bush has cut programs for the poor and under his Presidency the middle class and poor people's buying power has decreased dramatically as prices rise and rise again.

Hitler did kill 6 million Jews along with millions of others in the concentration camps so he is ahead of Bush there, but give our Prez a little time to catch up! All this lying takes TIME!

By the way, Hitler enacted laws that made workplace safety a concern, pure food and drug laws that made products safer to use and consume, Hitler dragged a country from the brink of collapse during the Great depression and he boosted military spending, veterans' pensions and military hospitals as well...

Bush and his henchmen have bowed to wealthy corporations, weakened safety laws, listed French fries as fresh vegetables, allowed increased pollution levels , cut meat inspections, and dragged a country suffering through the greatest surplus in its history down from the brink of success into the deepest deficit in our history! he has cut veterans' benefits, combat and hazardous duty pay, cut the Veterans' Administration's funding and even forced the military families to hold bake sales to provide their fighting men and women with proper Kevlar armor and Bush even floated a proposal to make wounded men in Iraq hospitals pay for their own FOOD while in hospital!

No, folks... Bush is NOT like Adolf Hitler...

HE'S WORSE!!

And that's pretty damned hard to do!

309

2. While Hitler beats Bush in the evil category,
comparisons to Hitler make Bush look like this great nationalist hero when he is really only out for his family and their Saudi masters.

16. Um...hate to disagree but
Hitler killed millions of Jews, Communists, Gypsies and Jehovas Witnesses

Bush has waged war in Iraq, but the numbers are no where near Hitler's.

He's NOT worse, trust me.

Edited on Sat Jun-26-04 11:09 PM by Cleita
Bush's genocide rate beats Hitler's already for his time in office.

On edit: By-the-way, I wouldn't have even thought of this if you hadn't so kindly caused me to think of it and make the comparison.

22. For one thing, Hitler wasn't stupid
And--let me say clearly that Hitler was evil before I say this--Hitler was after a greater good, where Bush is just out for himself. Hitler wanted, in his evil, twisted way, to build a better Germany. Bush could care less about anyone but himself. And when the best you can say about Bush is that he killed less people than Hitler, well. . .

24. Hitler was self made evil.
He was ravaged by venereal disease most of his adult life. I'm sure that affected his cognitive abilities. He probably hated most women (save Eva) and who knows what his thing with the Jews was....he was a bitter little guy with a street preacher's mouth and sense of timing.

Sometimes, the people just want a leader. I'm afraid they don't pay much attention to what the leader is saying, and most folks don't have the time to research truth and ficition.

In school, we were taught that George Washington would never tell a lie. I actually believe that, until I later read that he had to be chased out of his mistresses room when her hubby came home early.

Myths and ideals are great, but they rarely reflect the truth of the individual they're spun around. Hell, look at Paul Bunyan or King David....people are forgotten and the IDEAS of those people live on, their entire lives reshaped by people who agreed with some of their points and chose to endow them with godlike importance.

Ronald Reagan is starting to get FDR treatment. Fine. Tit for Tat. However, Myth making must be balanced by true historians, who must be allowed to do their work for posterity.

People like Franken and Moore just keep things sort of honest for a while until emotion dies down. America doesn't need to go too far one way or another right now. We have serious educational and energy problems to deal with, and a moderate approach is the only way out, because neitherr the left NOR the right can convince the uninformed middle of their arguements.

We've got to somehow work together. Kerry needs a few high profile Paleo Conservatives in his administration. I think McCain and Buchanon would serve, and serve well. Bring in a Libertarian or two, as well. Barry Goldwater, Truman, Reagan and FDR would be proud, even if LBJ would be pissed.

33. Oh please.
I've done both.

There is simply no rational reason to say that Bush is worse than Hitler. It's an incredibly stupid thing to say. Anyone who makes such a claim has no credibility amongst reasonable, sane persons. It's just a juvenile form of chest-beating to demonstrate that not only does a person hate Bush, but that they really hate Bush.

One can oppose and even hate Bush without comparing him to the author of the greatest atrocities of the past century.

To give the ignorant folks here an idea of Hitler's rise to power, consider that within TWO MONTHS of being appointed Chancellor, he:

--Arrested every member of the Parliament belonging to the Communist party

--Banned every party other than the Nazi party

Not to mention the invasion of several democracies and the attempted genocide of Jews, gypsies, and others, and murder of millions upon millions.

Grow up, people.

It is nice to see that the level of vitriol you provoked is much lower than my own similar ill-fated thread some months back. Perhaps I'm a worse writer, or not subtle enough. So cheers to you for having the courage to post this! :toast:

32. Both Narcissists
Hitler Was a sociopathic narcissist, much like our Shrub. They have some of the same personality traits.
The administration is using the 3rd Reich's play book.
Whether Shrub could reach the extremes that Hitler did is doubtful. He's probably too lazy. He might allow other people to do things but he's too damn lazy to take part in much of it. He wants to sit in the WH, pretend to do the work, and be admired for it.
