Doing Battle Outside DU
I've been pondering a return to message boards where people of all political leanings post. In reading some DU posts with links to sites discussing F-9/11, I've seen liberal posters outnumbered. Perhaps it's just my guilty conscience talking here, but I hate to see disparity in the face of RW and neocon apologist onslaught.

I'm not advocating abandonment of DU - not by any stretch of the imagination. I just feel that I could be doing more in getting the truth disseminated by visiting websites where all political views are accepted. I love DU and can't imagine leaving, but it's an oasis where RW thought seldom intrudes; I fear I'm becoming complacent.

I'd like to hear from other DUers who may want to stage bombing missions on well-entrenched freeperism that has crept into 'mixed' websites. I don't want freepers to feel complacent, either.

1. I'm a little confused by something you said
I don't know why you'd have to abandon DU. There are probably others who post on other sites/boards.

When you say, "I don't want freepers to feel complacent, either", I'm curious. Why not? Maybe if they got complacent (or even better, intimidated) they would shut up for awhile and stop lying about other viewpoints.

Please enlighten me...

2. I Didn't Suggest Leaving DU
In fact, I thought from my post that I had made it clear that I intend to keep posting here. As far as the freepers go, maybe I should have worded it differently. I meant to say that I don't want them to have it easy on any boards to which they post.

4. OK, thanks for the correction.
I don't know why I was reading it wrongly - sorry!

5. I've tried to do battle at mixed and conservative boards
It gets boring. They rarely make any sense. And, of course, I kick their asses and get everybody laughing along with me. The wingnuts just continue pissing in the wind.

All they do is just throw out their favorite key words, you know: Traitor, faggot, commie, France, socialist, un-American, Nazi, tree-hugger, unpatriotic, flag burner, lazy, hippie, terrorist, etc.

The shit really gets old when they don't have anything intelligent to say.

7. I can't take it.
It's like an alternate universe. They accept so many unfounded assertions as fact that it's impossible to find common ground.

8. here's a small forum with big pinheads.
http://boards.swirve.com/board.cgi?boardset=utopia

A gaming forum with Politics as a section. Warning, it's riddled with some prize doofusses and may bore you to tears. I like to slum there once in a while to feel out the climate and how it's changing.
It actually was a decent forum before 911 but most of the best informed have left in disgust. Probably to here. lol.

9. Been there, done that, at first it is entertaining but after awhile
you hear the same rants and they refuse to hear the truth or considers the fact.

If you are too strong in your position at FR they ban you, then after having your posting privileges revoked, they continue to attack you and call on you to respond.

Good luck in your efforts, but I have found that it is like trying to talk to brick walls.
