I went to a great house party yesterday!
I WENT TO A JOHN KERRY HOUSE PARTY YESTERDAY!

If you haven't been to one yet, please go to the next one! They're easy to find in your area. Just go to johnkerry.com and find the link to house parties. They have a very easy feature that allows you to enter your zip code and find the nearest party to your house.

The house party nearest me was full, so the hubby and I went to the only open one we could find, which happened to be in a neighborhood that is sometimes named as the most affluent in America. Because of this, the guests were mostly over sixty, and were discussing their latest trip to Europe, etc. It was kind of a culture shock for us, but after we chatted a bit, we realized that these people were DETERMINED to get rid of Bush, and that they had the money and time(many of them are retired or independently wealthy)to do it. The party raised over eight thousand dollars in on the spot donations. We met some local candidates, and the local representative for Dean for America, enjoyed good food, games, drink, and heard Kerry's live conference call.

Has anyone else had a great Kerry House Party experience?

1. I went to one yesterday, my second
I posted about it (hours ago) and then had to leave, so I'll post here instead of digging up my old one. I think It is a very cool way to connect with fellow Dems. We had people aged from 17 to 70 at ours- all walks of life, many socio-economic levels, all very nice people horrified at the current admin. Conference call was cool- don't think Kerry people invented it or anything, but it felt rather special to me. I liked what he had to say about health care- if a new admin can make it better for all of us, I would be thrilled. It's damn near killing us self employed types with families. We need to keep trying to find something that will ease the pain- and help get ALL Americans covered under a decent plan. Until we do, we will be a second rate nation. He suggested having catastrophic cases pulled out of the general pool, thus lowering the cost for everyone else, with the federal govt. then dealing with catastrophic pool separately.

2. Me, too and it was fun.
I went to a house party thrown by a guy I vaguely know from one of my voter registration drives. I had planned to just make an appearance and then make a quick getaway, but it was so much fun, I ended up staying for several hours. It was great talking with other democrat committed to winning the upcoming election plus we raised some $$$'s for Kerry and got some new volunteers.

3. I was going to
make a quick exit too, but the party was much better than I expected. It was productive and fun. Plus I didn't realize that it would raise so much money for Kerry. Our party raised eight thousand. If you multiply that by the 2000 parties held yesterday you get an impressive number.

4. Yes, I went to one near my house yesterday for the first time...
And it was great. So good to see a whole house of Democrats and Kerry supporters in VA Beach, VA. The Kerry organizer for SE Virginia was there a talked for a good 15-20 minutes. Also had the candidate for 2nd district there, David Ashe, who spoke to us as well. This guy was very good - I'm almost hoping against hope that we can win against our jarhead, Shrock, in November. Well, I can dream, can't I? All in all, it was a very good experience and I know I will be going to more of them in the future.

5. I think all Kerry supporters on DU
should attend atleast one Kerry house party this Summer. Or, better yet, be a hero and host one!
