I come and stand at every door
But no one hears my silent tread
I knock and yet remain unseen
For I am dead, for I am dead.

I'm only seven although I died
In Hiroshima long ago
I'm seven now as I was then
When children die they do not grow.

My hair was scorched by swirling flame
My eyes grew dim, my eyes grew blind
Death came and turned my bones to dust
And that was scattered by the wind.

I need no fruit, I need no rice
I need no sweet, nor even bread
I ask for nothing for myself
For I am dead, for I am dead.

All that I ask is that for peace
You fight today, you fight today
So that the children of this world
May live and grow and laugh and play.

-- Nazim Hikmet

I was driving today and this came on my CD player (the Byrds made a really sad song out of it) and I found myself crying about half way through it. It made me think how long this shit has gone on. Senseless, stupid war. Murder on a mass scale. Murder for king and country. Murder for nothing in particular.

Remember when John Lennon and Yoko Ono said that war was over if we wanted it. It turns out we didn't.

"That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons of history." - Aldous Huxley

"Those who do not learn the lessons of history are condemned to repeat it without a sense of ironic futility." - Errol Morris

1. Its not for nothing exactly...
The murder is for one thing, it is for your respect. Men and women all over the world will kill and die to have it, and while they are doing that they are handing you lines in the sand, which they think at the time, you should not be crossing.

2. The Atomic bomb, America's greatest shame, I too cry.

US is more subtle about nuking the world now, it uses depleted uranium instead.

Shame! Great sadness! Many generations to suffer.

Pray for clarity and forgiveness for those that are at fault.
