MOORE--Movie a big hit in red states
MOORE: 'We sold out in Fayetteville, home of Fort Bragg, We sold out in Army-base towns. We set house records in some of these places. We set single-day records in a number of theaters. We got standing ovations in Greensboro, N.C... The biggest news to me this morning is this is a red-state movie. Republican states are embracing the movie, and it's sold out in Republican strongholds all over the country...

HARVEY WEINSTEIN: 'It's beyond anybody's expectations. I'd have to say the sky's the limit on this movie. Who knows what territory we're in'...

1. The pathological liars in the Administration have created a
gnawing hunger for the truth.

3. Their pathetic stenographers in the media
have contributed to a hunger for the truth. People are sick to death of hearing only one side, only to find out later that it was a tissue of lies.

The shrieking on the right for "balance" in Moore's film is very telling. Where was all their shrieking over the past 20 years?

Oh, right. It was their side that was being told and ours that was being excluded.

12. Sad that you have to pay $8 at the cinemaplex to get the truth.
But that's what happens when you're starving.

2. No kidding
I cannot believe how sold out that thing is in red states.

I'm in TX and dayumn you better buy your tickets WAY in advance or it's a no go. My husband tried to see a 7:10 showing tonight in Dallas and the tickets had been sold out this MORNING and yesterday from internet sales.

So he came home and bought a ticket online for tomorrow evening.

4. It's Popular Everywhere
I suppose the PNAC's next move will be to control the movie studios and film distribution companies if Kerry allows the current regulations to continue past January.

10. People are driving in from the smaller towns to see it.
Even though my city, Durham NC, is a very Dem county, I get the sense that people are driving in from smaller cities and towns to see the film.

Maybe the hardcore rednecks Bush suppoters aren't driving in to see it, but I don't think it's just the liberal Dems watching the film.

And some of it is just plain curiosity--those people are probably really agog at what they see.

11. That explains the polls that were discussed in threads posted earlier
this morning. They are freeping and trying to find out the number of people who have seen the film and/or will see the film. Political pollsters are already out and about trying to see if they need to take it serious or if its just us "wild eyes" who are paying any attention to it.

16. Getting Red states AND Republicans to see this film is
really the point. I hope many "on the fencers" and disappointed repubs go see it. The film, while not thorough enough for me, will be enough for them to drop their jaws and hopefully "see the light".

Ecstatic to learn so many Reds got the showing..

17. Liberals are a MAJORITY in the US!!!!
Al Gore decisively WON the popular vote in 2000. A MAJORITY of Americans said NO to the conservative agenda in 2000!
Even the very red states have a huge number of liberal voters.
When questioned on issues, a solid majority of Americans are in favor of liberal policies.

It is the echo chambers of the Corporate owned media that propagates the LIE of a conservative majority. Americans aren't stupid...just ill informed.

Go MM!!!!

to F 9/11 in large numbers to see how the evil Ayrabs brought down the WTC towers.Invincible ignorance trumps the truth everytime!

21. lots of non-movie goers at my showing.
There were a bunch of people who appeared out of their element at the theatre -- one guy without shoes. Another woman next to me who was shocked to see commercials in the theatre. Another who came straight from the airport with his backpack. It was a different crowd. I think the film is pulling in new people and that wasn't expected when it was first marketed. There are liberals everywhere, even in repub strongholds. They have been wandering in the desert and this film is like a drink of clear water for the first time in three+ years.

20. Well, you have to remember
that, even in red states, there are plenty of Democrats. Even in the reddest states, at least 40% usually vote Dem, which is more than enough to sell out theatres. I'm not trying to be a downer, but we need to be gaurdedly optimistic about this movie.
