Are we at war with Afganistan

What is are deal there? where we? are we? or what?

1. We broke it, made half-hearted attempt at fixing it, and

pretty much abandoned it to fall into civil war.

2. The news I get is

that everything in Afghanistan is as bad as Iraq. The media isn't reporting how bad things are.

3. Rumsfeld this weekend

Said something about the Soviets had 300,000 troops there and they lost but we won with a fraction of that. I only caught the clip in passing so it's not a direct quote by any means.

I just wish a reporter had the nerve to ask him if we won why are we still there?, where's Osama?, why do the elections keep getting postponed?, why is the whole country in disarray? etc. etc.

4. I think we are war with Eastasia

but I'm not sure about Afganistan.

Don't you remember Bush announcing a victory in Afghanistan a few weeks back? How dare you question if we are at war there - you must hate America.

(and, never mind that not long after the victory declaration, the interim Prez of Afghanistan was begging the UN for more troops for more security...ssshhh, nothing to see here.)
