Oakland Theatre Drops Restricted Rating on Fahrenheit 9/11
A theatre in Oakland is not enforcing the "R" rating of Michael Moore's new movie Fahrenheit 9/11.

KCBS reporter Larry Chiaroni says that usually Oakland's Grand Lakes Theatre is pretty strict for movie ratings but for Fahrenheit 9/11, the owner and management of the movie house are ignoring the restricted rating.

"We think it's important for people, 14, 15 and 16 to see this movie because there is pending legislation that may reinstate the draft and it is in their best interest to know as much as possible about this topic," said manager Roger Brown who says they are treating the movie as more of a "PG-13" film.

Good for them. It should have been PG-13 all along.

2. Wow! let the freeper lawsuits roll!
I agree with them doing it, but now they are open to an easy attack of freepers suing the theater for allowing their children to see something they disagreed with.

I wish them the best of luck, the freepers are the most suit happy people I've ever known.

4. They can't, apnu
adhering to the ratings is strictly voluntary. It not a law, thankfully.

5. And most theaters
don't do much of a job of enforcing the ratings. They either sell tickets without questioning age, or kids buy a ticket for one movie and simply walk into another.

6. Whooo-hooo
The Grand Lake made Yahoo. They are the best. Their marquee always has an anti-Bush message plastered on it where people commuting to SF can see it from the freeway.
