bridge was one of those 30's public works projects, guaranteed by
the US Gov (but to be paid for with tolls over 20 years).
But definitely a "new deal" development project.

I agree that SF is next for MIHOP II, but odds on favorite for
LIHOP II is LAX (OBL never gives up on a target). And the Bushistas
have sufficiently "demonized" all Californians (and Bay Area people
in particular) that the rest of the nation will secretly rejoice
that "those gay liberal tree huggers out there had the protection
of God Almighty removed from them because of their lifestyles".

and not a real person. So he doesn't get captured, he is "killed in
a brilliant raid on a known terrorist hideout" or something. Just as
soon as they don't need "him" anymore to whip up outrage over beheading
good 'merican soldiers.

Which is not to say that ALL of the beheadings were staged, just the
one of Nick Berg. That set the bar for other real terrorists in the
region to get noticed, and bingo, they fell for it.
