To Michael Moore and Staff::: Next Project Suggestion....
How 'bout the Media Whores thingy? Capture Hannity, Oreally, etc in lies and propaganda efforts.

Capture the Pat Robertsons, etc in their mind theft operations. Do the HOLY TERROR(SEIGLEMAN/CONWAY) thingy for the flick.

Show the connection to both. The NeoPubs and How they manipulate the churches?

I would pay to see that.

Anyone else?

26. It isn't a Michael Moore project
But I wish that Ken Burns would do one of his looooong documentaries on the Constitution and then send it free to middle schools everywhere.

I firmly believe that a lot of what's wrong with the electorate is a failure of education on our system of government at the middle school level.

2. My one wish is for a 'Michael Moore blasts the media' film
They are in this mess up to their eyeballs--they give the complacent folks in America their opinions, and damned if they aren't infecting us with the worst kind of apathy.

7. I'm all for it!
An expose on the media and the religious right machine and how they are plowing under freedom and individual rights.

It'll probably take two films since they are both big issues.

This stuff just writes itself, and 70-90% of the necessary footage already exists in newsroom archives.

11. The media is worthless no doubt, but I hope it would be on Health Care.
The amount of money we spend in this country on health care is incredible. Michael Moore would have no end of material for a documentatry on our health care failures like...

1. why did Congress pass a bill that prevents Medicare from negotiating for prescription drugs.

2. put to rest once and for all that the U.S. does not have the best health care system in the world.

3. Does that slug Bill Frist manipulate laws to enrich his family.

etc. etc.

22. It is
Supposedly, his next movie will be called "Sicko" and it will be about health care in America.

I personally think the best move is a movie about the media. Very timely.

Might as well push the stake through the heart.

13. I'd like to see a doc about the evils of of electronic voting

Someone, something has to get this story in the headlines. The media can't be relied on to do its job. They've done a great job of keeping this issue under the rug. Even if F911 helps to sways millions of swing voters to cast their ballots for Kerry, it won't make much difference if their votes get eaten up by thousands of shady Diebold machines.

15. The way the media presented Boosh's medicare bill
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 04:32 PM by narcjen
was disturbing to say the least.

The way it had been breathlessly, uncritically reported by the news media. You'd think it was the greatest piece of legislation since the New Deal.

They could go all the way back to the lending of Ivy Lee to Hitler to help the Nazis help set up their propaganda machine! Ivy Lee, the father of spin would be proud of the Bush Propagandists! Mr Lee was a VERY close friend and employee of Prescott Bush's Brown Brothers Harriman bank! Presscott and friends loaned him to their business partner Adolf Hitler is how the story goes!

"Despots R Us"

"In 1934 the German Dye Trust retained public-relations pioneer Ivy Lee for $25,000 a year, ostensibly to promote the company's image in the United States. Lee's true client, though, was Adolf Hitler's regime, and his aim was to favorably influence American public opinion of the Third Reich. As part of his work, Lee produced a report suggesting that German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop "undertake a definitive campaign to clarify the American mind" via newspaper op-eds and radio addresses to the U.S. public.

Lee's arrangement was ultimately exposed, and the incident helped lead Congress to pass the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) in 1938. FARA required that representatives of foreign governments disclose their client list, the thinking apparently being that lobbyists would find it too embarrassing to work for dictatorial regimes if they knew that their activities would be made public. It was a strategy of name and shame, and in some places it could have worked. Washington, unfortunately, was not one of them. From the apartheid regime in South Africa to Saddam Hussein's Iraq, foreign tyrants have had little trouble finding friends in the capital, whatever good intentions lay behind FARA. "Jeffrey Dahmer had a lawyer, and every country with a terrible human-rights record has someone in Washington to try to get them out of the soup," says a senior congressional aide who is frequently buttonholed by foreign lobbyists. "If you have the money, you can hire yourself representation."

Managing the Human Herd

These influences culminate with Bernays, who happened to be a double nephew of Sigmund Freud. (His mother was Freud's sister; his father was Freud's wife's brother.) Bernays combined Le Bon's fear of the masses with the theories of Freud and others regarding the subconscious, irrational motivations of human behavior. In books titled Crystallizing Public Opinion, Engineering Consent and Propaganda, he defined public relations as an "applied social science" which society's masters could use to manage the human herd. "If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind," he argued, it would be possible to "control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing it. . . . Theory and practice have combined with sufficient success to permit us to know that in certain cases we can effect some change in public opinion with a fair degree of accuracy by operating a certain mechanism, just as the motorist can regulate the speed of his car by manipulating the flow of gasoline."

This is scary stuff, and required reading if you want to understand what motivates U.S. businesses to spend over $10 billion a year on PR. But it should be read for what it is--marketing hype, using reverent technocratic imagery to package Bernays' services to his corporate clients as the latest shiny new must-have gizmo.

Lee's "statement of principles" was designed to create the public myth that PR is natural, honorable and honest--part of the "two-way street" process of democratic communications between businesses and their "publics." Bernays' created an equal and opposite corporate myth--that public opinion could be manufactured for a price, bought and sold like any other commodity. Ewen easily debunks Lee's mythology, and he properly deplores the elitism in Bernays. He fails, however, to deal with or even mention the fact that Bernays was a controversial and frequently disliked figure within the PR industry--a man who was not invited to parties, who was deliberately excluded from professional associations, and who had a problem keeping clients.

19. Good idea, but not gonna happen.
just as the lawyers in Washington have never passed any legislation that puts lawyers out of work...

Michael Moore will not attack his own (political pundits).

I have the utmost respect for Mr. Moore and his viewpoints, but i do realize that he has the same habit of his peers to "fudge" certain facts to his line of argument.

That being said, he is one against a plethora on the other side of the fence. there movie would be about 15 minutes to his 18 hour conservative bashing hate-fest (I would go and buy the popcorn for that one)

MM should just explain what neoliberalism is, and how it has extinguished Keynesian policies and socialism through propaganda applied to the American public.

25. Moore said his next project would be on HMO's and the insurance companies
I agree with you though, I'm dying to see a MM film on media whores and the corruption of corporate media.

By the way, the interview where MM said his next film is on HMO's might still be on the CNN site. I'll try to see if I can find it because it's a good one to watch.
