Poll question: Which Republican Senator would you want speaking at the DNC?
Since, turncoat Zell is speaking at the GOP Convention, who would you most like to see crossing the fence for our side?

1. McCain might tell another Chelsea Clinton "joke"
"You know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her real father!" - John McCain

21. I hadn't heard that! Did he...
...really say that? If so, that's disgusting, almost as bad as Oxy-ditto boy's "joke" a few years back. A while back some folks where pushing for McCain as Kerry's VP, but thankfully that boomlet's seemed to collapse lately.

But then he would stink up Boston as a whole.... So lets just leave him there as long as the Repukes dont dig up St. Ronnie either.

But I chose Chuck Hagel...

He seems like decent guy and doesn't have the "rock star" ego of McCain.

He'll come down on Shrub over important issues.

15. Why should any of them speak? They can go wallow in the
fucked up mess of the New York Republican convention. That's where they belong- in the middle of their 9-11 exploitation gone bad.

I hear alot about attracting moderates, but seriously- we've already got John Kerry instead of an actual liberal. Just how far should we bend over to attract dipshit Republicans?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If the last 4 years hasn't mobilized the liberal base, nothing will. The climate is such that real liberals can win without pandering to Republicans.

hearing him speak on stem cell research he did one of the best jobs in favor of it. he has the knowledge but he also has the ability to communicate it in a way that people without scientific knowledge can understand. i would like him to speak on this at the convention.

And I resent the very idea that we need or want any Repub at our convention -- this is the kind of thinking that has dragged the Democratic party into the swamp. Tell the DLC to go the hell.

20. What is this fixation on having RW in leadership roles in the DEMS????
You *really* are enjoying with they're doing to this country?

It's stuff like this that makes me begin to wonder if this whole nation is going to have to go down before people "GET IT"

24. Ordering me around, eh?
How very........democratic of you.........

Some of us are sick to death of giving our party away....... so it's not in the least humorous.

If you can't get that, you haven't been paying attention.

We've lost enough of our party as it is. The RW can stay to themselves. I DON'T WANT THEM HAVING *ANY* POSITION IN WHAT'S LEFT OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

I happen to care about the Party that much.

30. We need humor at this point.
I'm just as sick of what's happening as you are, and I don't appreciate what you're accusing me of. You don't know me well enough to presume whether or not I've been paying attention or care about "The Party." You have your way of coping with the times, I have mine. Watching what's happening, if I didn't have laughter I think I'd go crazy. But if I misjudged people's sensitivities on this issue, that's my mistake. I'll remember to post similar threads in the Lounge next time.

As for my ordering you around. I assume you meant that part about lightening up. And no, I'm not ordering you around. What you do is up to you. But if you interpreted what I said to mean that, you might want consider it in any case.

32. Yeah, you have your way, and I have mine
Too bad you didn't see that when you blasted me.

And, having lost so much of our Party, I, and many others, don't get any "humor" about having more repigs in charge of the Dems. Maybe that's funny to you, but maybe you'll just have to see it actually happen before you get that it isn't funny. You have a lot to consider yourself.

One thing is that you might give some sign that it's supposed to be "humor". Given all the bruhaha about McCain, it's come to the point where the unthinkable is certainly possible.

I try to be too subtle and cute for my own good sometimes. But when you insinuated that I actually enjoy what's happening, I took it as a personal attack and defended myself accordingly. Tempers flared. It's done now. Everyone's on edge these days, and it's gonna be a long hot summer. But we all gotta stick together and not fight with each other. There are bigger fish to fry, so to speak. A little laughter now and then won't hurt either.

...either to become an Independent or a Democrat. Otherwise, I have to assume they support the radical right-wingers who control the Republican Party and I would not welcome them at the Democratic Convention.
