Heart & Soul a response to F9/11? Disney says no, SO FREEPERS GET A LIFE
NOTE TO FREEPERS & THOSE WHO INVADE THE DU TO TOUT "HEART & SOUL" AS A RESPONSE TO F9/11, GET A FRICKIN LIFE! LOL

'Fahrenheit' foes put 'Heart' into Disney doc
Eisner spotted at public screening of '9/11'

By GABRIEL SNYDER

The Walt Disney Co. could draw fire from shareholders once they study the rocketing B.O. numbers for "Fahrenheit 9/11."

Final figures released Monday showed Michael Moore's film, which Disney rejected, made $24 million in its opening weekend, and its distribs said they would nearly double the number of "Fahrenheit" runs by the end of the week.

But Disney may take further flak for screening a patriotic documentary for a group that's been battling to suppress "Fahrenheit."

Disney spokesmen went to great lengths to emphasize that the company has no political agenda in distributing "America's Heart and Soul," a docu about cultural diversity that opens Friday.

Nonetheless, Moore questioned the timing of Disney's screening of the film in Sacramento for Move America Forward, the group that urged theaters not to play "Fahrenheit 9/11."

MAF has latched on to "Heart and Soul" as a counter to Moore -- the press release announcing its screening carried the headline "Move Over Michael Moore."

Though the Disney topper (Eisner) did not want to distribute the film, he was spotted leaving a Sunday morning showing of "Fahrenheit" at the Grove in L.A., smiling and chatting with three companions.

"Heart and Soul" helmer Louis Schwartzberg is adamant that his doc, which profiles about three dozen Americans, isn't a political statement.

"It celebrates the positive things in this country," he said. "I hope the media doesn't go nuts just because (Disney) showed it to a group that's politically conservative."

1. *Very* interesting!
Eisner is gonna be out, methinks within a year. F9-11 (a documentary) beats out mainstream fare such as "White Girls" and Disney isn't making money off the film? After helping to finance its production?

If I were a shareholder, I'd be furious.

2. More importantly understand "HEART & SOUL" has been hijacked by the right
Even the film's director said his film is not political. This film was made to celebrate America. I do not see how a film celebrating America is counter to F9/11, the only people who would believe that would believe that F9/11 is anti-American. You did see that scene in the film where Michael Moore said he loves this country. Hey MOVE AMERICA FORWARD. . .I got something for you to suck on.

5. I don't Disney was teaming up with anybody. . .
. . .trust me I have spent half of my career in the movie industry, there is no partnership, studios look to market their films to groups that are very likely to patronize them.

Last year one of my clients (who gives tons of $$$ to the Dems) released a product that the right would love. On was on the phone with NEWSMAX, Illinois Leader and talk radio shows on a daily basis.

4. Are there any "inspirational messages" from The President in this..
new movie? You know, non-partisan, it's just that G.W. Bush happens to be President, so....

If not, I can't see the movie as political. More likely, it's a sucker move to get US to condemn a "feel good" movie.

9. Head in the sandism = Heart and Soul
If I wanted to feel good about America it wouldn't be because of a movie that shows some Americans and their passions. I would feel good about America if Americans would try to use diplomacy not war to shape the world and if Americans would look to the domestic problems of this country and try to do something about them. The basic things that our parents took for granted in this "Great Country" are denied to almost 1/2 of Americans today. Health care and affordable housing and steady employment are no longer taken for granted. Fix those problems and make a documentary about how we did it and I will feel good about America again. When I see the divide between the haves and have nots in this country getting bigger and bigger and when I see health insurance becoming unfordable and see all the outsourcing of jobs and when I see the number of kids living in poverty it makes me want to jump up and scream that we are going in debt to win a war on terrorism which is really a mask for world domination by a few wealth powerful people in this country!

I can't feel good about a feel good movie.

10. So if Eisner went to a theater to see F9/11...
...does that mean he didn't even watch it before he told the Weinstein bros. to drop it? I sure hope not.

Oh well, either way his days in the Mouse House are numbered.

11. Disney and Eisner
As a proud owner of one share of Disney stock, I want Eisner out. He has made some really bad decisions lately, F9/11 being just one. He decided not to have Disney be a part of the Lord of the Rings films, losing a lot of money for Disney. Now the F9/11 debacle. It's time for Mr. Eisner to 'move forward'.
