Product placement for Sharpie markers?
We all know the reason Bush uses Sharpies is because he likes the fumes, but that doesn't explain the need for Scott McClellan to drop the brand name.

And then the President wrote back on the note in a black sharpie, "Let Freedom Reign!"

1. This entire note thing stinks ... badly!
Who in hand-to-hand memos has ever started such a note with an actual title?

Mr. President,

...

Just more bullshit from the folks who brought honor and integrity back to the White House.

2. Nope, just mistaking a brand name for a generic name.
Note that it's not capitalized in the document.

Lots of people I know use the name Sharpie to refer in general to fine-point markers because they own so much of that market.
