1. Is this the best we can do?
They call us pessimists becuase we say America can do better.

2 million jobs lost. We can do better
Last election 2 million votes not even counted. We can do better.

This is a good theme.

5. Don Evans said thisi s the best economy he has ever lived in ?
i didn't know he had said that until kerry mentioned it. but shows how this administration is out of it. or maybe they just don't care. either way they need to go.

7. If you're in the top 1% it must be the greatest economy ever -- it's going
down and you're still getting rich. It must seem like magic if you're rich. You're getting rich without having to work harder and withouth having to do much at all.

11. Can't wait for the debates!
If, as the rumors say, * is coming ungled, can you imagine him facing off against the focused and razor sharp Kerry we're watching today?

:bounce: BRING IT ON! :bounce:

4. Kerry has been impressing me as of late
He and his staffers have obviously read "The Tortoise and the Hare" as children.

One thing about Kerry. He may be a bit stiff, but he's a seasoned politician and he's smart as hell. I like his approach so far.

I am really excited about JK. I think more and more voters will be too when they get to see and hear more of him.

Damn, he's Presidential.

14. Perfect storm: (1) This is what being a democrat is all about -- caring
abot these issues, (2) This is the core of what being a republican is all about -- shifting wealth CREATED by people who work up to the very top of the ladder, and (3) No matter what happens in Iraq, Bush can't change the fact that his administration has shifted a ton of wealth to the top.

This is how Kerry is going to win. He's going to stand tall on FP and defense, but he's going walk and talk this core issue of why he's a democrat, what Republicans are all about, and what is going on with the American economy.

25. AP - Did Kerry say these things or are these your thoughts after
hearing him?

Did Kerry say this-->

"Perfect storm: (1) This is what being a democrat is all about -- caring about these issues, (2) This is the core of what being a republican is all about -- shifting wealth CREATED by people who work up to the very top of the ladder, and (3) No matter what happens in Iraq, Bush can't change the fact that his administration has shifted a ton of wealth to the top."

Either way, Kerry's words or your thoughts, Perfect Storm analogy is a great theme!

34. Those are my thoughts.
I think that's what's going on -- or at least how people need to see this election.

Democrats stand for one thing, Republicans for another. When you look at the facts of what's happening in society today you see where all these things are coming together in a way that a storm of awareness should come together to blow Republicans out of office.

15. Funny, I was thinking "a lot of Edwards-isms"...
Especially earlier in the speech when he was talking about poverty in this country - in Appalachia and other places that nobody wants to talk about. Whatever - Kerry is hitting the high notes. And he's NOT READING!!

16. I hear Edwards.
Dean talked about how awful Bush was on the war.

Edwards talked about how Bush was destroying people who worked for a living.

of his speech that sounded like it was adopted from Dean. I hope Kerry adopts all of their messages (except Lieberman's)

. . .we need to bash them when they do wrong, but we need to let them know we appreciate it when they do right. None of the others are carrying it.

19. Will do!
Do you think CNN is having an identity crisis? Lately they've been having wild swings from absolute blatant rightwing partisanship to the kind of equal and fair coverage for Dems we're seeing now.

24. Actually, when he is talking about girls and math/science: HOME is
important. You cannot expect the schools to do EVERYTHING: advantaged/disadvantaged abled/differently abled.
I know because in my home my husband and I have emphasized that females can do as much as males can, math being no exception. Both my kids are studying in the sciences very successfully. One a female, the other a male. And it was not because of the school: home has a lot to do with it.

27. I just donated $2,000 to Kerry.
I've been holding off because of some uncertainty in my personal financial life and because I've been waiting for just the right time with regard to the campaign. The passion Kerry is voicing about children and education in this speech made this the right time. I feel very good. :-)

My husband and I couldn't think of a better way to spend the money.

32. Nice Job Barbaraann
We all need to donate as much as we can. A friend of mine is having a birthday party next week. In the invitations to her party she asked that no one bring gifts for her but that everyone bring their checkbooks. She's asking everybody who goes to her party write checks "no matter how small" to John Kerry's campaign for President.

bit about expulsion of two Iranian guards from the UN. It happened last weekend but "somehow" just released during Kerry's speech. At least they waited till he finished.

30. this is the Kerry people saw in Iowa and other states in the primary
but in addition he would also meet personally with voters and answer any and all questions. they even challenged him at times but he let them because he knew they deserved to do that to someone who wants their vote. while this helped him in the primary it was a mostly democratic primary but i'm wondering if it should be changed in any ways to help win in the general election.

Wonderful speech. It's so good to be home on a weekday. I'm glad I was able to hear and watch the speech. I was pretty damned impressed, and JFK looked very presidential. And this from a guy who hasn't been real impressed with Kerry.
