Letter to family, friends and neighbors about F911
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 04:39 PM by IkeWarnedUs
My husband and I composed the following letter and are sending it to all of our family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and anyone else we can think of.

Dear Family, Friends and Neighbors,

We are writing to ask you to see Michael Moore’s new movie, Fahrenheit 911. Most of you know that we have been concerned about the actions and policies of the George W. Bush administration. We have had these concerns long before the making and release of this movie. We urge you to see it is because it does an excellent job of highlighting our concerns in an amusing 2 hour format.

Our computer hard drives and file cabinets are full of information we have gathered over the past few years. From George Bush’s military and school records, early business ties with the Saudi royal family and binLaden family, his record as Governor of Texas, irregularities in the 2000 election, the secrecy of this administration, unanswered questions about the events of September 11, 2001 and the lies that led to the war in Iraq. Our sources include major print media such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Stars & Stripes, Washington Post and more including trade publications; networks including CBS, NBC (with MSNBC and CNBC), WLS, Fox, CNN and PBS; transcripts and video tapes from C-Span; government websites including of the White House, Congress, Department of Defense and State Department, among others; corporate and organization websites such as for The Carlyle Group, Haliburton, Military Families Speak Out, The Project for the New American Century, United Defense Industries and The 9/11 Independent Commission.

We have tried to find a way to share what we have found with all of you, but there is so much information we didn’t know how to condense it to a package that wouldn’t be too overwhelming. We learned all we have over time - it can be a lot to take all at once. That is why we are asking that you see this movie. We finally have a way to share what we learned with the people in our lives.

I am sure many of you have heard the claims that the movie is biased and filled with lies. Fahrenheit 911 is a documentary made to show Americans what is happening to their country. It is not news and does not claim to show an unbiased account. But when you see the movie you will see that it is made up of news footage, recorded testimony, copies of documents, and interviews with members of Congress, soldiers, intelligence officials and family members of active duty soldiers, 9/11 victims and concerned citizens.

If there is anything in the movie you think is a lie, please contact us and we will be happy to provide you with the evidence we have.

All of this goes far beyond partisan politics. Fahrenheit 9/11 questions the actions of Democrats as well as Republicans and does not endorse any political party or individual candidate.

We feel so strongly about the message of Fahrenheit 911 and the importance of exposing people to the information in it, we are willing to pay for your ticket to see the movie. As you know, we are not wealthy and it would be a hardship if all of you took us up on the offer, but we consider it an investment in the future of democracy in the United States. Some people have said they refuse to see the movie because they don’t want to give their money to Michael Moore. If that is your reason for not seeing it, we would be happy to buy your ticket. All we ask is that you talk to us afterward to let us know what you think.

8. I Like Ike! And, value his warning. ^_^
Good letter, and excellent idea.

What I know from life is that if people are open to suggestions, then they will be affected by what you say. If they *aren't* open, then no matter how you phrase it, it likely won't get the results you wish for. That's just how people are constructed.

Given that, I, personally, would leave out the paragraph listing all the sources. I know that you are expressing that your information comes from reliable sources and not "propaganda", but for most people, a long listing can probably cause eyes to glaze over.

The only "nit"..... your first paragraph...
"because it does *and* excellent job of highlighting our concerns in an amusing 2 hour format."

I suspect you meant "an" rather than "and".

Excellently done, and hope it gets some good results! Let us know what happens!

Kanary

10. Thanks for catching the typo
I didn't want to say "President Bush" and didn't want to use a nickname - oops.

Please feel free to use any or all of it if you want to send out letters of your own.
