That's Drudge's current headline.

So this is the new tactic to desperately discredit this film's impact: act like Spider-man opening at #1 is a victory for Bush

I guess that "$21 million isn't really a record" spin didn't work. Did they really think people were stupid enough to but that one?

5. Maybe Bush* should get Spiderman to endorse him.
He could enlist this fictional character to help his fictitious presidency.

6. Ah, it's the old expectations game...
Remember that? If Bush pronounces one word right, BAM, he wins the debate.

7. Hmm.. A $200 million movie with a $50 mil marketing/merchandising campaign
that outsells a low-budget documentary with a fairly small promotional budget and a third of the screens?

Not to mention it is the traditional summer blockbuster fare that kids on summer vacation flock to?

Are we supposed to be impressed?

11. Actually, in the long run F911 will be far more profitable
It's entirely possible F911 could eventually surpass 200 million in profits. That's the high-end of the scenario, but it's still possible.

12. Yeah, all the reviewers are ranting about how it is the greatest
movie ever. The guy on abc gave it an "A" and the others just carried on about how rare it was to hear him give any film an "A". The free press they are givin it is funny. That does appear to be the cons plan, the best action hero movie ever, I bet you the guy who made it is pissed he didn't make "Captain American" just imagine that free press!
