Wow...there are just no words to describe the reaction that certain members of the Free Republic exhibited when confronted with the news that Michael Berg, Nick Berg's father, spoke out against the war, and spoke out against Bush. Calling both Berg and his son stupid, leftist, stupid some more, idiotic, scumbag,pathetic spectacle ...it gets worse.

While Nick Berg went to a war zone, he went to help. His intention was not to kill, his intention was not to harm. It was to rebuild, to fix. He tried to create an infrastructure, the infrastructure that the Bush Administration broke down with their bombs. He helped establish roads that allowed for food to get to starving areas. He was kidnapped, maimed, humiliated for the entire world to see, then beheaded in front of the same audience. Michael Berg lost his son, lost his faith in the administration, and made the choice to speak out against this government. In return, he gets humiliated by the right. It is an absolute truth, if Bush did not start his petty war, Nick Berg would not have been beheaded by Iraq fundamentalist. Michael Berg has the right of an American, and as a parent, to speak out against war hawk Bush and his cronies.

I just think that if Michael Berg were to see those comments...there are really no words to describe the feeling that he would go through. Anyone who has lost a loved one, in 9/11 or any other act of terrorism, has a grief that most of us cannot fathom. It has to be a sickness because it just isn't normal. Something happened to the freepers in their childhood or later that gave them the paradigm that they see the world through. My guess is that some of them are from the sixties era and were good clean young people who didn't have sex or use drugs or didn't dance to rock and roll. They were told by their parents and teachers that sex, drugs and rock and roll would lead someone to a life of ruin. Well that did not materialize and so they are pissed the missed all the fun. That is also why they hate Clinton. He represents all the bad kids from their past and he became President.

When I was younger, and in college, we had one excise cop whose job it was to patrol ALL of Southern Indiana, looking for underage drinkers. He only showed up at our little private college in Evansville though. The rumor?
