Bush Getting Nutty, Say Aides
http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/919_855831,001800030001.htm

"In meetings with top aides and administration officials, the President goes from quoting the Bible in one breath to obscene tantrums against the media, Democrats and others that he classifies as 'enemies of the state'," it added.

According to it, the worried White House aides describe Bush as a man on the edge increasingly wary of those who disagree with him and paranoid of a public that no longer trusts his policies in Iraq or at home. "It reminds me of the Nixon days," it quoted a long time GOP political consultant as saying adding "Everybody is an enemy; everybody is out to get him. That's the mood over there."

chimp will be wandering the halls and talking to the portraits just like Nixon did as he sunk further and further in the polls at the time of leaving office.

I kinda hope he'd just implode, just so long as he doesn't have his finger on "the button" when he does.

I'm truly concerned he may turn to the "if I'm doing down, I'm taking everyone else out with me" philosophy.

4. Shades of Gaius Caligula, Emperor of Rome
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 03:25 AM by 0rganism
Read about Caligula

"...His popularity was immense. Yet within four years he lay in a bloody heap in a palace corridor, murdered by officers of the very guard entrusted to protect him... The best explanation both for Gaius's behavior and the subsequent hostility of the sources is that he was an inexperienced young man thrust into a position of unlimited power, the true nature of which had been carefully disguised by its founder..."

5. He classifies Democrats as Enemies of the State?
Nixon had an enemies list--but it didn't have HALF THE FUCKING COUNTRY ON IT!

Clinton may or may not have had an enemies list--but it didn't have HALF THE FUCKING COUNTRY ON IT!

And he's making campaign commercials with Hitler in them.

Jesus Christ, when will the Republican Party get off its fat asses and get rid of this son of a bitch? There is no WAY IN HELL this guy can be good for the GOP.

He is, however, potentially very good for us if we can play this correctly. All we need do is point out that Bush thinks half the country is a traitor...

7. regarding bush*'s campaign
there was a snippet in an article posted here on the DU a couple of months ago (sorry I can't find the link)

it mentioned that bush* is managing his own campaign...

considering how he ran his former ventures into the ground, and how he is running the country -- it's not surprising to see this type of slime and mud emerging from a white house that was suppose to restore honor and dignity

I guess it's all in how you define honor and dignity

7. George W. Bush
If you need any more proof of Bush's inability to manage the nation's finances, check out what he's doing to his campaign. According to the Associated Press, Bush has spent "seven of every $10 he has raised for his re-election" so far, and is now hitting his supporters up for more money. Despite raising at least $218 million so far - blowing away the previous fundraising record - Bush is spending himself into the ground for very little gain. And now he's sending emails to his supporters whining about how Kerry "has certainly got his liberal allies all stirred up to attack me." Awwww. Poor George. Oh well, perhaps if the last four years haven't proven beyond all doubt that Bush's talent for running companies into the ground extends to his presidency, at least his supporters might now start wondering what they're getting for all their vanishing cash.

Did anyone care to watch his speech in Istanbul? His reaction to the sound of a distant ship's horn was telling. The security bubble is weighing down on him. Sooner or later the POS will crack completely. Hopefully there won't be a Big Red Button within reach when that happens.

I'm not sure this is reputable. There's lots of stuff to criticize Bush about, but I think this is "actionable intelligence".

20. The Arrogance of Richard Nixon Revisited
http://www.counterbias.com/060.html

June 29 2004
Counterbias.com
Marc Krug

No American President sits above the law. Any belief that he does justifiably earns him the moral judgment of unforgivable arrogance.

This remnant delusion from the Nixon era should be relegated once again to the historical scrap heap, so that George Bush, like Nixon, can be held accountable for what he has done.

Earlier this month, Capital Hill Blue reported that witnesses told a federal jury Bush knew about the impending release to a journalist of a covert CIA operative's name, but did nothing to stop it. Nor did he report it after it happened. Releasing the name of an operative can be a federal crime, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. More importantly for Bush, knowing about that crime and yet not reporting it might also constitute a criminal act.

<snip>
Now, if Bush knew that someone released classified information - specifically, the name of a CIA operative - and yet did not report it, our current President might soon find himself standing before the American public, saying words similar to those spoken by Richard Nixon in 1973. "People have got to know whether or not their President is a crook. I'm not a crook." But as history later proved, he most certainly was.

..more..

Bush can only hope.

although near the end, Nixon did enjoy brief bout 'elder statesmanism'.

27. Source - the CapitolHillBlue item from several weeks ago.
while the "Story" keeps cropping up - it is all from the same source - note the exact same quotes. Given the insider/gossipy nature of the CHB site (a "fun" read - sometimes on the mark - but sometimes seems to be more about lower level staffers on the hill dishing gossipy items than anything else), I still say - until a story - not based directly on the one item/"article" shows up - it isn't a story. Just a rehash of the same item.

Not that the story doesn't seem to have a ring for truth... he does seem to have a pretty tenuous grasp on ... issues, policies, reality on the ground of the consequences of his actions, etc.... just pointing out that this item is getting the whitewater/rehash same story as if it is new truth sort of treatment.

30. hehe... but remember how gratifying
the story was the first time each of us read it... in part because it sounds so true (and could be, for all we know...)

Who would I be to take that enjoyment of the first read away from others...

But I did want to point out the origin - and the fact of its recycling rather than a new item - to those reading it ... lest we read it to mean more than it really might mean.
