Table of casualties in Iraq

LONDON, Aug 17 (Reuters) - A Danish soldier and two Iraqis were killed in southern Iraq in a gun battle between troops and a group of looters stealing power cables, a British army spokesman said on Sunday.

The Danish soldier was the first foreign soldier not from the U.S. or British military to be killed in Iraq since the launch of the invasion that toppled Saddam in April.

Following is a table of casualties suffered by U.S., British and multinational forces, as well as Iraqis, during the war as announced by U.S., British and Iraqi authorities or independently confirmed by Reuters correspondents.

NOTE: NON-COMBAT is defined as accidents, U.S. or British fire killing or wounding their own troops, and other incidents unrelated to fighting.

4. ALL deaths should be counted as 'combat deaths'
I think it's safe to say that most of these people would still be alive if they weren't involved in the current military operations in Iraq. I'd like to know just what exactly the pentagon defines as 'combat'. Why don't they just put everyone under a list called, 'Soldier Deaths in Iraq'? These people just love to screw with semantics, don't they? War should not be sanitized. Give it to us straight!

5. 2320 Iraqi military deaths.
That leaves about 300,000 unaccounted for. Wonder where they are?

6. So I went to the DoD website and counted the names.
It was 266. The site below says 276 and AP says 268. I don't know where the discrepancy is coming from.

9. These soldiers died because of this invasion
no matter how they died...it's a real slap in the
face to the soldier and his or her family.

This beats Clinton's what "is is"
