"Iran gassed the Kurds" - Larry Johnson ex CIA on Morning Sedition
Air America Radio Wed morning. Evidence our intelligence services have points to Iran, not Iraq. Their was a NYT Op-Ed by a former CIA agent a while back as well that mentions this, but glad it is getting on the radio to hopefully thousands of people who haven't heard it before.

They are now talking about Cheney gettin' the Bronx cheer at last nights Yankee game. Haaaahaaaaa.

2. I can't find the Army War College (and Stanford prof) report
But there is this.

This was debunked long ago. I still assume that he did gas his own people but that is probably only because it has been drilled into my head.

3. the CIA knows it was the Iranians
Saddam didn't have blood agent back then (cause we didn't give it to him) :eyes:

he had some forms of Mustard Gas but that wasn't what did the Kurds in. Blood Agent is nasty, nasty shit and it came from the Iranian side

7. Oh yeah
matcom and others pointed this out BEFORE the war and there was a US Army War College report that stated basically that. The Kurds WERE gassed but the nature of the gas pointed that it certainly was the Iranians battling for Halabja in Iraq-Halabja is an important city in controlling the water supply (and energy production) which is one of the unspoken reasons for this war. Iraq is THE major fresh water supplier in the middle east-a "Freedom Pipeline" was in the planning stage at one point to pump water to Israel but it fell apart.

Google-US Army war college Halabja --------or throw in Kurds in there and see what you find. The NYT article on it is now in the archives and you have to pay for it and the War college report (with two Stanford and Princeton -I think) profs dispelled this whole story.

8. Thanks Underpants! further down the page is the op-ed by former CIA agent

A War Crime Or an Act of War?

By STEPHEN C. PELLETIERE (NYT) Op-Ed words
Late Edition - Final , Section A , Page 29 , Column 1
DISPLAYING FIRST 50 OF WORDS - It was no surprise that President Bush, lacking smoking-gun evidence of Iraq's weapons programs, used his State of the Union address to re-emphasize the moral case for an invasion: ''The dictator who is assembling the world's most dangerous weapons has already used them on whole villages, leaving thousands of his...

Larry Johnson was making the rounds after Valerie Plame's name was leaked. He spoke up with other Republican former CIA agents who were outraged about the leak. He voted for GWB the first time, and hope that he is outraged enough to vote Kerry this year. Thanks Mr Johnson for speaking Truth to Power.

9. The film footage was shot by western journalists who were held
just across the border by Iranians and then slipped into Iraq after the smoke cleared. Think about. The Iranians had to have foreknowledge of the when and where.
In Addition, I have read that there were reports of soil testing done by US military, they new the chemical agent involved had to come from Iran because the US sold Iran and Iraq different chems.

10. I did see once on........gulp Savage's show
The actual first show he had footage of gassed Iraqis (Kurds I think) but it wasn't in Halabja it was supposedly from somewhere else. I know-consider the source. Like I said above I have it in my head and still consider it the truth, such is the BIG LIE.

I think the RW has stopped mentioning Halabja and just state it as a known fact now (BIG LIE).

14. An even more important point is contained in this site....
That is....we gave the green light to Saddam....and what I've read....(wish I could my finger on the source) was that there was something on the table which would have allowed him to take back about 50 miles worth which would have satisfied his dispute over Kuwait drilling sideways into Iraqi fields.

Now connect the dots together.

Why did we go into Desert Storm?

There had to be a connection with the Saudis and overall fear about Saddam in the area. I personally believe that the Saudis were instrumental in our decision to go to war.

Thus the provocation for 911.

11. This is great news
Now we have a reason to invade Iran. It's the same reason we used on Iraq, and it got us into invading Iraq. So we know it works.

Now we just invade Iran, at which point we'll discover this stuff actually came from Syria.

12. The CIA report was a lie put out by the Reagan administration
to justify their support of Saddam against the then bogeyman, Iran. It has been thoroughly and completely debunked.

It was nerve gas, not cyanide.

13. There is so much misinformation out there about Iraq...it's part of the
long-range attempt since the Reagan administration to get a foothold on the oil in that region. Plus, no one is counting the number of Iraqis that the US killed directly with bombs and and indirectly through sanctions. Many of those 'mass graves' are the dead from US attacks...they had to bury them somewhere. The Kurds are really treading on thin ice by casting their lot with the US. How long before we turn on them?
