Lila Lipscomb to appear on Deborah Norville tonight
Wednesday, 9 p.m. ET
In Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" she was pro-war— until she lost her son in Iraq. Now she's telling her full story to "Deborah Norville Tonight." 'Deborah Norville Tonight' regularly airs 9 p.m. ET, repeats 2 a.m. ET.

1. That ought to be fun
We'll see if the Donald's old lover challenges Lila as per Busholini headquarters directions. Odds are 50/50.

2. Could she be so callous
as to beat up on a mother who has lost her son? That could backfire.

3. Isn't Norville the one who took a "study" from The Onion
and reported it on her show?

The way I look at her show is this: There's real journalism, bad journalism, really bad journalism, Fox, and then there's "Deborah Norville Tonight".

4. Norville: "But you do have OTHER kids, right?"
blah..

Seriously, is Deborah Norville as bad as Paula Zahn?

5. I hope she doesn't beat up on her
If so, it could blow up in their faces.

I'm sure that the interview will center around how Michael Moore only contacted her after her son died, and he edited the film to look like some footage happened before and some after. They have to make him look manipulative somehow.

6. Wasn't Deboarh Norville on Extra or some other tabloid BS?
I must've missed the memo where she had credibility... :eyes:

But we all know that Debra Norville is a "Hard Hitting" journalist.
Just look at last nights show.

With all that's going on in the world she's doing "Wilson-Phillips"

She must be very proud.

If she gets out of line, I hope Lila takes her to task.

9. am I the only old enough to remember
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 11:21 AM by southlandshari
the Today Show coup when network officials decided to replace the immensely popular (but no longer in her 20's and definitely not blonde) Jane Pauley with the younger, blonder, and far less experienced "Debbie" Norville? It was ugly, and for the first time drew attention to the dumbing down of American broadcast news journalists in the quest for more "beautiful" talking heads.

People were so unhappy that NBC's morning show - long the ratings champ in its time slot - tanked, and Norville really took it on the chin. It has taken decades for the Today Show to climb back up in the ratings and for Norville to work her way back into network news (as if that is some lofty place to be these days!).

P.S. I don't mean to malign all blondes, just the concept that they should be given special status because of genetics - it is more of an insult to all the fair-haired intelligent folks out there than to anyone else!

11. No, I remember the controversy over Norville
I remember Norville complaining about how much she was hated after that. I also remember when CNN gave Andrea Thompson an anchor job even though she had very little experience (she was an actress and then she worked in New Mexico as an anchor for a short time). I remember that I stopped taking CNN seriously after that. Like you, I am sick of the pretty talking head syndrome.

13. No, I remember
I stopped watching at that point. Jane would still be a welcome sight in the morning. Katie has always been way to perky for me.
Jane Pauley on the other hand is all class. And she is a beautiful woman to say the least.

12. Just saw the promo - ugh
"She supported the war in Iraq....until she lost her son there. Her story on Deborah Norville tonight..."

Then a laughable graphic of Debbie with her arms crossed and an "oh-so-serious-journalist" look on her face.

I'm not among those who have sworn off network/cable news, but I still am not sure I can stomache this tonight.
