TucsonFM radio DJ offers free tickets for F911 if people heckle loudly
Email from my daughter in Tucson:

"Interesting how so many radio stations here (regular FM music stations, not talk radio) are letting their DJs actively promote limiting freedom of speech for so called "anti-Americans" who see the film. One station yesterday actually had a DJ who said he'd give all listeners free tickets to the film if they all went to heckle so loudly no one would be able to hear what was going on in the film. I'd hate to be the ushers in the theatre having to enforce the "no talking" rule, if they even did.

Think I'll go see it on Sunday for a matinee. Great way to spend the early part of Independence Day.

XO
Moi "

Yes, sir, dat's my baby.

1. Can't stand the truth? Drown it out!
Perhaps a call to the station manager about the responsibility his business has to the public for using its airwaves to broadcast is in order, hmmmm?

8. "If you can't BEAT 'em....EAT 'em".. The republican way in action
They did it with television...they did it with radio...they did it with NPR... they did it with the League of Women Voters...they did it with school boards and city councils all over the US..they tried to do it with the Sierra Club...

So now they are essentially "bribing" people to make public nuisances of themselves and antagonize people in to a "reaction" that will reflect poorly on liberals..

Nothing new here folks.. they are Creeps, and they show it every day of every week.

11. Just like the CSPAN caller this morning who said R's were
so moderate and Smirky really did change the tone in DC. When the Dems get hysterical, they show civility.

I could not believe my ears. Why didn't the moderator just casually ask the caller if he thought the Vice President saying "Fuck You" to a Senator on the Senate floor was civil?

2. No usher necessary.
Such a heckler would only get two or three minutes tops to loudly disrupt a movie I paid my hard-earned money to see.

3. Take Him Up On His Offer
Bleed the MF's pockets and go see the movie. Do what you want with your voice box.

6. That was what we were thinking too, make him pay for tickets
She was just furious that the airways (belonging to the public, we would like to remind station owners!) are being used in so obvious a way to appeal to the dregs of society to subvert the basic premise America was founded upon.

Trust me, anybody who heckles and interferes with her ability to hear the film will not have a pleasant experience. When she switches into her "I am an American woman, from a long line of American women" mode, she is a fit match for anything hair brained stunt a winger might try. She slices she dices she minces and makes hash of idiots without even breaking a sweat. She is still pretty steamed at the way Hillary was treated.

14. Sure! Can't you "heckle" by loudly applauding?
Or just heckle when Dubya and/or Cheney appear?

Let him buy the tickets...Moore still benefits!

4. I would not suggest that if they value their personal safety.
The overwhelmingly sympathetic crowds I've seen in three viewings (and their enthusiastic response of "high-fives" and electioneering for Democrats after the show) would more than likely be moved to at least a "mild" level of violence.

On second thought, BRING THEM ON. I could use the exercise.

12. We gotta figure the wingnuts and their squad leaders are getting pretty
desperate and panicky. It would be funny if it weren't for the fact that that it is such a blatant example of corporate enterprise, using the public's resources (airway) to subvert the public's best interests.

That is what pisses off Havocpup. They call us names and attack our patriotism while doing desperate things to subvert liberty and the quest for knowledge by responsible members of the electorate. Freedom is not served by opaque governments or their agents.

13. Yes - please find out the station ID.
We should all call or write to complain. Aren't they obligated to document each complaint, in a file to be produced when they apply for their FCC license renewal? It would be nice to fill that file up, wouldn't it?

9. How bizarre!
My guess is that most of the stations that are doing this are Clear Channel stations. I'm sure they're pissed about the roll back on the FCC limitations of how many stations they can own in a market.

10. The irony in all of this is that Moore's movie shows liberals...
... that they don't have to sit down, be quiet and take it anymore.

I have a feeling that if someone got the idea to follow through on this, they might end up a little "lumped up" from their actions.

And since it's a dark movie theater, how on earth would anyone around the "incident" be able to confirm the identity of those handing out beat-downs?

NOTE: Not that I'm advocating violence in any form, but it's a possiblity that something like this could happen....

15. Havocpup doesn't need Moore to tell her she doesn't have to take it
quietly. And Tucson is a fairly liberal town. Any idiots foolish enough to make a racket where she is watching the film would likely find out she is a great organizer who can act quickly to get people in gear. :-) My guess is the ushers would only have to hold doors open, patrons would do the rest.

Of course, the RW media would play it as an unprovoked attack on their right to be rude, obnoxious bullies. I do love how some segments of our society love to claim they are being persecuted when someone refuses to let them shove their views down everyone else's throat.

18. KNST (790-AM), Dave Skyler, Tucson's Morning Show
Today's Arizona Daily Star, " 'Fahrenheit 9/11' stir draws Pima sheriff's deputies." Davey is a wannabee Limbaugh and this is a must read article. www/azstarnet.com. It is in the entertainment section E3. I think this should be sent to Michael Moore.

19. How would these feckless a-holes feel
if I paid a 1 million dollar bounty to any radio outlaw or enterprising hacker who could jam their specific broadcasts?
How does local law enforcement feel about a pair of dick jockey' enabling people to make a public affray?
Hell they are practically scheduling a public affray!

24. Pima County sheriff;s deputies showed up after radio listeners alerted
the theater about the radio broadcast.

<snip> The theater had apparently been warned in e-mails and phone calls that Skyler's viewers planned to disrupt the showing. An e-mail passed on to the Arizona Daily Star from a group called "Americans for Radio Diversity, Tucson," urged attendance at the 7:30 p.m. showing to counter KNST's presence.

"This morning Skyler encouraged his loyal listeners to go to the film and disrupt it by yelling at the screen," the e-mail read in part.

One caller to the show Monday morning asked, " 'If I get upset, can I yell at the screen?' and I said, 'That's up to you,' " Skyler recounted.

Skyler said he eventually straightened things out with the theater's manager and spoke to the audience, saying, "I know we're all well-mannered, so please don't make any comments during the movie." None was made, he said.

20. They should get arrested for disturbing the peace, like that woman in
Philly who got arrested for disturbing the peace (with the disturbance being that she argued with an officer who said he'd cite her for passing out voter reg forms at F911 screening -- but he didn't actually cite her for passing out the forms, just for arguing with him about whether he'd cite her for doing that).

26. Irony?????
The movie theater is a "Loews," Cineplex that has just recently been bought out by "The Caryle Group." Take note that Dave Skyler was not purchasing the tickets, but was being giveen.... free-gratis, 10-tickets by the theater management. If this is what is going on around the country, I think Michael Moore has unlimited possibilities in his future.

27. Yeah. after Caryle gets done with any reorganizing , the Assistant Mgr
at this particular theater may be looking for a new job. Sounds like the lady has brass and handled the situation very well. Can't see Caryle keeping someone so adroit at going toe to toe with a bullying lout. Let us hope they do not micro-manage.

25. They Can't Handle The Truth
I think that was a great idea...take the guy up on his offer, and then do what you want with your voice box...or not.

But I'd add an element to this strategy...

Bring voter registration cards. sign people up to register to vote. Let them call the cops, and let them TRY to arrest you for "creating a public nuisance." And then point out the fact that this DJ was inciting a public nuisance with his offer...and those who actually DID heckle were creating a public nuisance...and then ASK...in front of TV cameras...why THEY aren't being arrested for "creating or inciting a public nuisance" and yet, you are??

This could really play right into our hands, if handled correctly.

We could point out the hypocrisy, and make it evident for all to see exactly what kind of police state the brown-shirt mentality of the right-wingnuts is trying to promote!

Carefully note that only those who are AGAINST Bush are being cited and arrested for "creating or inciting a public nuisance" but those FOR Bush are not also being arrested or cited for "creating or inciting a public nuisance!!"

I say,

BRING IT ON!! MAKE THEM SHOW THEIR TRUE COLORS IN A WAY THAT IS OBVIOUS FOR ALL TO SEE!!
