We're constantly exhorted to "speak up", etc, yet so seldom given the support to do just that. Unless/until the "movement" gets *that* part of it, we will continue as we have..... burning out and fading away............

12. The Belly of the Beast

Unfortunately I'm at work and have limited reply time.

I read a quote from MLK just recently about how everyone must protest in the way he or she can. We are in the belly of this beast and if we were to be educated so that all understood the nature of the beast and our role in it, we could put ourselves against the machinery, as Mario Savio called, and "prevent it from working at all."

I believe that is possible -- not easty or even likely, but possible. We must keep at it by all means available. For me, educating the young who now have more at stake than do those like myself who have lived long and hard, is also an important step. I am fortunate to be surrounded by young people who are earnest, sincere and energetic.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread and to the long struggle for real peace.
