Is Abuse, In General, Up
The Breaking News Board has the article about the poor dogs in Oklahoma that were attacked by someone with fireworks. It is a sad tale of abuse of the worst kind - abuse against the helpless.

But have you notice that abuse, in general, seems to be way up?

In Kansas City and other cities there just seems to be more and more child abuse reports - terrible things - and cases of abuse of elders and animals.

I really think our whole society is just under way too much stress from all of this war stuff. It is relentless. And for people who are just barely hanging on - it is enough, more than enough, to tip them over the edge.

Abuse is awful. The victims deserve the best help they can get. But, often the abusers are in real trouble themselves. They need to be stopped in their tracks. And they may need to be punished. But they also need someone to help them - as they are almost always the victims of abuse themselves.

1. It could be just that more is reported, but on the other hand...
if the incidence of child/spouse/animal abuse IS on the rise, it's one of the signs of economic problems in general.

Recovery, my ass!

2. You beat me to it!
Increases in abuse are a surefire sign that economic troubles for many families are continuing.

Of course, I'm sure that the war/fear has something to do with it as well.
