We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
There it is. The reasoning behind this great nation. These ideas seem to be fading from some people's memories. Perhaps we should review them.
We the People of the United States. That is the government is of the people, by the people, and for the people. It is not the government of kings or ceos. It is not the government of just the rich. It is not the government of money. It is We The People that strive together to form this government of us, by us, and for us.
in Order to form a more perfect Union. We strive with the understanding that we can improve. We progress. Our understanding of our society changes. We realise wrongs that held sway and must be righted. We work towards a more perfect Union.
establish Justice. Justice for the people. We understand that an individual cannot take justice into their own hands. For that way leads to endless conflict. We place our trust in our fellow citizens and our government to ensure that justice is served in our name.
insure domestic Tranquility. A nation can only grow if their is peace. If people are fearful they are driven by irrational thoughts. It is only when we strive together without fear that we truly can build towards a more perfect union.
provide for the common defence. The world being the place it is it is necissary to sometimes pick up arms to defend ourselves against those that do not share our view or respect our rights. We the people have the right to defend ourselves. But it is a right to defend, not to attack.
promote the general Welfare. A nation of people can reach further than a single person can. By providing conditions for every citizen to be able to strive forward we enable our nation to reach heights undreamed of. It is the job of the We The People to promote the welfare of all our fellow citizens. As in helping others to reach higher we enable ourselves to reach higher as well.
secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. It is not just for us that these duties are required. We must consider the future as well. We cannot squander resources or pollute the system to such a point that it becomes useless to future generations. Nor can we leave them saddled with financial woes that we did not want to face up to. We must be responsible for ourselves and our future.
