4. Yup. Didn't we learn those lyrics in like first grade?
White House handout of a note received 28 June, 2004 by US President George W. Bush (news - web sites) during NATO (news - web sites) summit meetings in Istanbul, written by National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites), confirming Iraqi sovereignty and Bush's reply, 'Let Freedom (news - web sites) Reign!'(AFP/HO/Eric Draper)

7. I'm suspicious of the note as well.
Reign is spelled properly. And it was addressed to Mr. President, not "My darling love, Georgie."

8. I think he meant "begin"
As in Let Freedom Begin!

He can't write well, ya know, so his "B" is funky and he did misspell the word.

My two cents...

11. Yes, but the song lyric is actually "let freedom ring"
So it's probably real. It's the ultimate, iconic bushism.

13. Nope, no slip.
IMHO, I believe he sees himself as the ultimate bringer of freedom and thus as freedom itself. For * "Let freedom reign" means as much as "Let me rule".

10. if true, you gotta give him props for getting "reign" right

You'd figure with his level of literacy, the homonyms "rain" or "rein" might have surfaced instead.

But, again, that's so only IF the note is genuine.

I wonder what Ken Lay's notes attached to the energy task force papers say ("Attaboy, Dick ... let's rape 'em in California!")

18. Hahahaha!
You're right Stephanie...every American child has that line pounded into their heads, yet StupidHead can't get it right!

I love the pomp and circumstance these guys have reserved for the new Iraq! She scribbles a half-ass note without even using good punctuation. Crumpled up napkin. What's he using... a fricking thick nubbed Sharpie to scrawl his idiocy?
