Does Dennis Miller pay his audience?
Is it true that Miller has to pay people to fill his seats and
laugh at his feeble jokes? Originally, the show had no studio
audience and any occasional laughter was supplied by the
technical crew. To repair the situation they opted for a live
audience, but I heard they had to pay in order to ensure a
favorable full house. Is this the case?

3. Yes
There was an ad in some local trade journal, looking for audience members for Miller's crapfest, and offering a small emolument to people for their trouble. It was posted all over the place when it first came out a couple of months ago, so if you do a search you can probably even find a scan of the ad in question.

5. LOL! Excellent analysis! Brilliant!
that'll be $5

honestly his humor is so obscure that I think for his viewers it's one of those nervous pity laughs. for me, even when I do catch his references I won't laugh to show that I get it... they're just not funny. He is such a shmuck.

7. Wouldn't doubt it
I've watched bits and pieces of his show while surfing and it's really lame. Best part is the chimp.

8. Lots of those shows have paid audiences
In dire times I have been an audience member for such shows as Judge Judy - 5 hours for $45. There are many people here in LA and I assume NY who do this every day.

If Miller could fill the audience on his own they wouldn't need to pay them.

11. Verrrry interesting, Beaverhausen.
Living as I do in the vast, dark, fly-over part of the
country, I never would have dreamed that Judge Judy (and
others) pay their audiences. Thanks for educating me.

9. You'd have to pay me a lot more than 15 bucks
to even sit in the same room with that husk.

10. accidental, fleeting exposure to his royal smugness
while clicking through the channels causes an involuntary whole-body flinch. What would it take to erase the deeply engraved lines of delusional superiority ... if only a kindly plastic surgeon would donate his services, along with about a quart mason jar of botox.
