Olbermann running with July surprise story Tonight!
Tonight on Countdown The New Republic reports that the administration has significantly increased pressure on Pakistan to kill or capture a high level target (HVT), before the November elections. "Pakistani security officials have been told they must produce HVTs by the election. According to one source in Pakistan's powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), 'The Pakistani government is really desperate and wants to flush out bin Laden and his associates after the latest pressures from the U.S. administration to deliver before the U.S. elections.'"
The Democratic convention is less than 3 weeks away.
Maybe we can pre-empt this plan by showing Bu*h at the presidential podium saying that the war is more than one man and that he really doesn't think about Bin Ladin much anymore. Maybe Kerry should call for Bin Laden's head and serve up Gen. Clark to the administration as the point man helping to find him. Then, Clark can take credit and show that Kerry had to take the lead. If Bu*h refuses Clark then the D's can say that the administration is being political with the issue.
