no useful conclusions, no blame for anyone, no real changes in government will take place at this time, so, what was the fucking point? bush fought it for 3 years kicking and screaming, now he's crowing that we are all safer, but apparently the panel says we are in grave danger.

what an utter waste of time. like the warren commission.

3. Oh, no...not a waste of money at all!! Now we know....
...that Iran was providing a "safe haven" for Al Qaeda to come and go anytime they wanted, just like it was in Florida!

They are also not cooperating with those nu-cu-lar inspectors because we just know they've got WMDs, and are probably hiding Saddam's WMDs, too!!

And look at all of the links between Iran and Iraq...just look, for God's sake, they share a common border!!

'Bout time to set-up sanctions and a no-fly zone and start enforcing 'em, don't you think??

6. Brought BFEE stooge Lehman to the fore as first "Intelligence Czar"
He'd be perfect, the way he browbeated and cowed the NYFD and NYPD for having lousy radios when all those firefighters and police officers were in those building trying to rescue people. No one can miss a point better, which is the idea.

8. I never had any hope...
...that they would expose the truth. Hell...Moore's F911 brought out more truth and facts than this rigged commission.

- The US government is corrupt to its very core. Democrats are complicit or forced to cooperate. Either way...the US is screwed until Americans understand what's happening and confront it head on.

Read it here and there for a few hours and you'll discover it has the typical Republican playing to the cheap seats as well as revelations damaging to Bush and vindicating for Clinton/Clarke/Berger.

Let's hear you claim it was a waste of time in this thread: 9/11 Report: "Phase II" of war on terror: "OCCUPY IRAQI OILFIELDS" http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2047735&mesg_id=2047735

There's also a whole chapter titled "THE SYSTEM WAS BLINKING RED".

21. I bought a paper copy yesterday
and anyone who says they know what is in it is fooling themselves. The volume of information is massive, and until it is more widely read amd absorbed any comments can be characterized as cherry picking to prove a point, one way or the other.

I'm just goofin' around, I thought that was obvious...I haven't even read the whole report yet (but I will), so honestly, I truly am unqualified to be commenting until I do...But in the meantime there's no harming in goofing off a bit...

15. Well, a 90% waste of time and money...
however, buried in there are some real gems that they had to include because of the public nature of the testimony. Like on Page 274 of the 9/11 report:

There was substantial disagreement between Minneapolis agents and FBI headquarters as to what Moussaoui was planning to do. In one conversation between a Minneapolis supervisor and a headquarters agent, the latter com=plained that Minneapolis’s FISA request was couched in a manner intended to get people “spun up.”The supervisor replied that was precisely his intent. He said he was “trying to keep someone from taking a plane and crashing into the World Trade Center.” The headquarters agent replied that this was not going to happen and that they did not know if Moussaoui was a terrorist.

19. Thanks for that!
I've been trying to post the stuff that everybody assumes is not in it. It's depressing that so many here prefer a rush of adrenaline from the r-w spin than calmly reading it for themselves. People are playing right along with the spin.

Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 09:35 AM by jmcgowanjm
did not happen.

I've been following this story since Sep 28 2001,
waiting for the FBI to check the source of this
message. And now this the Dir of 911tells me
on CSPAN this didn't happen.

Which part didn't happen?

Odigo usually zealously protects the privacy of its
registered users, said Macover, but in this case the
company took the initiative to provide the law
enforcement services with the originating Internet
Presence address of the message, so the FBI could track
down the Internet Service Provider, and the actual sender of
the original message.

23. Yes. From the WashPost/Newsbytes dated,
By Brian McWilliams, Newsbytes
NY,NY, USA

Citing a pending investigation by law enforcement,
the company declined to reveal the exact contents of the message or ID the sender.

Ed.- I've kept the article ever since,
only hearing from Ha'aretz every once in awhile.

And then this AM Zelikow says it was a lie,
nothing to it.
