Bush About To Step Into Black Hole of History
The pollsters and pundits have all but pronounced the president unbeatable in 2004. But any cheap almanac shows that George W. Bush is about to step into a Black Hole of History. As the son of a former president he may be bound to lose.

Consider these facts:

George W. is the third president to be a direct descendent of a former president.

Their ancestors, all three, were one-term presidents.

All three direct descendents won their office despite failing to win the popular vote.

Both of the previous direct descendents ran for reelection and lost.

Their opponents have their portraits on a unit of U.S. currency.

1. bush*sucks was, is, and remains unelectable
Why anyone would think that he's done something to make himself more electable leaves me, well, dumbfounded. (Pushes jaw back in place.)

2. Unfortunately, he is not unappointable

Like Al Qaeda, "elections" are "mutating."

3. Can we use historical precedent...
...to predict GWB's* future? I say we can't. Mostly because none of the presidents mentioned had all the advantages has...namely a corporate press to do his bidding and a 'news blackout'.

4. This election really is ours to win
All we need is a strong candidate with vision and ideas. That is why I periodically remind the folks here to look for more than just bush* bashing in a candidate. We need someone who has and articulates an agenda.

5. Unfortunately, that assumes
a continuity of the Republic. I'm afraid it's the American Experiment, and not the Cheney-Bush Junta, which has slipped down the black hole of history.

6. Unfortunately, history assured us that Gore would become Prez in 2000.
And though Gore did actually win the election as promised, it wasn't by the margin promised, and it wasn't enough to keep the Bushists from using any means necessary to get their boy into the Oval Office.

7. PERHAPS UNELECTABLE .........IF THERE ARE ELECTIONS
and even if there are in order to maintain the myth of popular democracy, it didn't seem to make much difference in 2000 did it? Face it. It may have already happened that you now live in a corporate controlled military dictatorship. So, who ya for in 2004?

8. Agreed Pocho, this level of propaganda and vote fraud
Edited on Thu Aug-21-03 07:36 AM by tom_paine
is I think unprecedented. Not necessarily, the vote fraud, tht has always happened, but the coodrination of Lies, the psychomanipulative sophistication, the parasitized weakness of the Formerly Free Press, and the seeming ability for the Imperial Family and Cronies to commit crimes in broad daylight, with no cover-up even required, and no fear of investigation, let alone prosecution or punishment (while at the same time a Democrat can't jaywalk without being covered as a pundit shriek-fest 24/7 for weeks)...

In their own way, all these things are unprecedented in the History of the Old democratic-Republic.

Of course, as you believe so do many, that said history is over and the History of the Amerikan Empire has just begun...

I myself believe this has a 90% chance of being true now.

(here's to hoping for the other 10% to be true)
