ummmm.....WNBA player accused of rape?
i must've missed any news story on this, but here is an analysis:

http://new.blackvoices.com/sports/nationworld/bv-cooper030814,0,7424038.column?coll=bv-sports-topstories

it doesn't say much at all about the charges. has anyone else heard of this story?

1. FORMER WNBA player
...According to an L.A. TV station...Former WNBA player Latasha Byears...and three men raped the victim...a former...Los Angeles Sparks...teammate...at a Sparks' after-party on June 5.

...it's not very often that a woman is accused of sexual assault, and there is a bigger story here. If Byears is charged with rape, it will again focus attention on the delicate subject of women's sports and lesbianism.

Meaning what? That lesbianism causes rape, that the WNBA causes lesbianism, or that it's something that female athletes "catch" in the locker room? Plus this happened six weeks before the story in the link was printed. And I've never heard of lesbians spontaneously going "pot luck" with heterosexuals. There's a lot LESS to this story than meets the eye.

2. This portion is illogical
snip
"The cat, as they say, is out of the bag.

And so is Byears. In an article in the July issue of GQ magazine, she referred to herself as the toughest player in the WNBA. "I been in this league six years now," she told the magazine. "I came in through the back door, but I'm leaving through the front, side and middle. Man, roll the red velvet out for me, 'cause I'm the boss.' "

so, in sports now, "toughest player" in the league = lesbian? There is some "forward thinking" or could it be the "I came in through the back door" phrase? Frankly, based on this "evidence" this is quite an illogical jump for the columnist.
