Drudge Tries Again: claims Kerry reinacted war events for camera
I don't frequent Drudge, but it caught my eye in LBN.

http://www.drudgereport.com/dnc8.htm

Check out where the quotes are from: "a naval officer" in a book published by Regnery, and written by (drum roll...) John O'Neill! (Wonder why Drudge doesn't mention the author, and who he is?)

Grrrr....

1. Could he find a more vague picture?
It's clearly not Kerry in the picture, but it's blurred just enough to make someone that's dumb enough to buy this lame-ass story think twice. I mean, this guy flat-out lies. Someone should sue his ass.

2. *sigh*
Is there anything to say to this?

I just don't get how people can be this blatantly hypocritcal. I mean, isn't that just freaking evil?

Kerry risked his LIFE over there. Bush didn't. Where are Bush's home movies? Hell where is any record of where he was for those months he dissapeared from the Guard Base?

5. Right, and cameras are sooo unusual
Many people brought cameras to Vietnam. There were also military journalists (one named Al Gore).

Are we supposed to believe that all the pictures of the Chimp were taken because he had his eye on the presidency decades later?

How about that photo of Kerry when he was three years old, huh? Man, he had ambitions even then...

11. Good point

But it will go above the empty heads on the right.

Not to despair...those in the middle are going to reject Bush big time...

15. I bought a movie camera at the PX when I was in Vietnam
I was 2 weeks short and wanted to film the guys and places so I would remember them. I have since destroyed the film and gave the camera and projector away.

The NASA picture was supposed to be the talk of the airwaves but it didn't seem to take so now they are dragging out this flop sweat.

9. A little innoculation is probably due
Kerry brought his camera ith him but was NOT filming during firefights. For obvious reasons. After one firefight (which he won a medal for) he did go back and film the scene with the rocket launcher he seized from the VC soldier he apparently killed and disarmed.

He has told reporters this story for years - that he went back and filmed at the location and did a kind of "reenactment" showing a little bit of what happened with a member of his crew filming it. He never tried to pass this off as the actual events and so this story - while it sounds kinda cheesy and a little too self-conscious - is a nonstory.

It is nothing new

But denying it won't work.

The facts work well. He had a little bell and howell and like many warriors throughout the last century - he took pictures. Was he political then and knew he would use them?Yes. Did he lie about it or try to fake them? Never.

Rove is right - innoculation works

10. At Least he was in Vietnam not in some bar like Bush!
All they can do is make up lies about what Kerry did but they cannot deny that he was in combat and Bush wasn't

13. Right -- I want to see the Chimp's reenactment of what HE did then
Nobody will ever know, if they have their way. The records disappeared, of course.

.... the national review (neo-con central)

"KERRY IN VIETNAM
This story is going to get a lot of coverage. (Links to the Drudge story)

Now, I've said this before and I'm going to keep saying it. It's not right -- it's improper, unseemly, unethical and dishonorable -- for a party with a Bush-Cheney ticket to mock John Kerry's service.

Yes, I know the temptation is strong; and I know there are all sorts of respects -- including this latest one -- in which Kerry's military service is pretty darn mockable.

But when all is said and done, he served. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney didn't, and they should have done. I say this as a Bush-Cheney voter. I like the ticket, and I'll be voting for it. I wouldn't vote Kerry-Edwards at the point of a gun. Yet if you ask me: "Doesn't it take some of the luster off the GOP ticket to know that when it came time for your guys to put themselves in harm's way at the nation's call, they ducked it?" my honest answer would be: "Yes, it does."

And yes, of course I suspect Kerry's motives in going to VN just as much as you do. It is still the case that he went. It is still the case that if some NVA round had passed six inches further to the left, he would have been maimed or killed.

The honor that we accord to our serving men and women is, in my personal opinion, indivisible. John Kerry is just as entitled to it as anyone else who served. That's how I see it, anyway.

This guy is a total RWer with a anti-gay, conservative agenda. And HE SEES how beyond the pale this is ... SO BRING IT ON, BUSH SMEAR TEAM!
It will backfire badly on your a**es - just like it did with McCain.
