Comparing Kerry's speech today in Greensburg with Bush's today in
Pittsburgh. I saw Kerry in person and am watching Bush speech on local cable station. What a difference.

Style:
Kerry spoke with mike in hand walking around the stage with no notes completely at ease.

Bush is at a podium reading. He looks tense and frankly desperate.

Content:
Kerry spoke of how he plans to extend health care coverage, keep jobs here in the US by changing the tax code. He also spoke about investment in science and education.

Bush: Terra, terra, I made us safer. We created 2 democracies in the middle east. "We're turnin' the corner and we're not turnin' back." Kerry voted against the troops (when is God gonna strike him dead for telling that lie for the millionth time?) Bash Kerry with MORE lies about his voting record. Bash, bash, bash. Now accuses Kerry of wanting to expand government more and "he hasn't told us how he's gonna pay for it." Values, marriage, BS... BS ..."Culture of life"..."culture of personal responsibility"

Someone should slap Bush and tell him:

1. HE has a half trillion dollar deficit
2. George apply that "personal responsibility" CRAP to your own life
3. We are NOT safer
4. Does the phrase "prosperity is just around the corner" ring any bells? Check your history book to see who said that

1. Bush also could be seen looking at & turning the pages of his speech
That podium with the presidential seal in the front didn't quite do the trick at making him seem presidential. He was sort of hunched over and his whole demeanor was very defensive and hostile I thought.

2. I just watched *'s speech and I was at Kerry rally
I thought * looks cocky. Here's how I reviewed his speech.

The fool is giving a decent speech. But unlike Kerry and Edwards who walked around the stage talking, Chimpy is glued to and leaning on his podium reading his speech. Calling Al Qaeda Al Qae eee da, smirking after every line.

He's doing a lot of smart-ass Kerry and Edwards and Dem bashing. Did about a 40 minute speech.

They're indoors at the convention center, so it does sound like an enthusiastic crowd of koolaid drinkers. I'm wondering if they're prodded to start chants of "4 More Years" and "USA". They never showed the crowd, just the people behind * on bleachers so hard to say how many he had. Only 2 black faces, Lynn Swann (former Steeler and broadcaster) featured promiently behind * (Swann introduced him-boo), and some other guy high in the bleachers. A couple of Vets featured as well, some cops and a bunch of people in white suits(wonder what that's about - some fundies?.

From what I saw of this speech - Chimpy was on his game today.

But I was at the Kerry/Edwards rally in Greensburg today. Those two guys and their families are smoking! And the crowd was pumped!

Game on folks. Game on!

3. We are on the same page on both speeches
I thought Bush was more articulate than usual and laughed about the al Qae EEE da, too. What's up with that?

My son and I were in Greensburg today and we felt electrified by the enthusiasm.

They could not have fit the Kerry/ Edwards Greensburg crowd in the convention center.

4. Just saw a * crowd shot from Pittsburgh on Faux
didn't look as big as Greensburg crowd for Kerry - and I'm betting if Kerry had a bigger site today or a big indoor site there would've been even more. I'm betting some people got shut out!

Hope the papers tomorrow have crowd estimates (accurate ones that is). H'mmm wonder if PG and the Shove It paper will be far off?

5. There were people lined up for more than 6 blocks behind us
and we waited in line for 2 hours to get in. The rally started about 15 minutes after we got in, so I am sure people did not get in.

Someone mentioned the Trib while we were waiting to get an autograph and she said, "Please boycott that paper." We said that we had boycotted them years ago.

6. WTAE 4 just said Bush Crowd was 10,000
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 10:19 PM by rmpalmer
They didn't give size of Kerry crowd but I heard earlier today 8,000 and as you said a lot probably didn't get in cause that was a small site.

Pouring rain much of the day and Kerry spoke outside.

* had nice comfy inside.

I say we checkmated them today.

BTW, the white suit people behind Bush were white-coated doctors. WTAE didn't miss telling us that Edwards was a plaintiffs attorney before cutting to * blaming lawsuits for high cost of health care.

But they did do a great cut of Bush saying "We've turned the corner" to Kerry saying Hoover used that phrase and Kerry didn't want to turn the corner but climb the mountain.

On edit - KDKA called *'s crowd at over 6,000 and Kerry's at 5,000.

That was NUTS! There were so many people, I spent the day chatting with people in line bitching about the two dumb republicans that heckled the line as they drove by (cowards!) FAST!

Alright, fall in.
