Dumbya: "You know how the rich is..."
pResident fuckwit displays his keen grasp of economics and the plight of the middle class....

"He (the next President) said he's only going to raise the tax on the so-called rich. But you know how the rich is, they've got accountants. That means you pay. That means your small business pays. It means the farmers and ranchers pay. That's the wrong medicine for this economy, and we're not going to let him prescribe it."

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040731/nysa015_1.html

So vote for Bush because otherwise the accountants of the rich will terrorize ranchers and farmers? If Kerry makes the rich pay taxes, accountants will go on a killing spree? Or will it be the rich who are going to rob small businesses if they have to pay their fair share? If you use an accountant, you're rich? The right medicine for the economy is to get rid of accountants?

The more you think about this, the less it makes sense. But that's what happens when you put an overmedicated idiot near a public address system.

20. Bush has a rich record
on education:

"I said, 'No, we're not going to take your Goals 2000 money. There are too many strings. I can't cite you the strings. I was just told that there are to many strings.' And so I said no." - (Bush, recounting his answer to an officer from the Clinton administration to send a package of education funds to Texas, CSPAN, 1/25/99)

"Higher education is not my priority." - (San-Antonio Express News, 3/22/98)

"Laura and I sometimes don't realize how bright our children is until we get an objective analysis." - (Meet the Press, 4/15/00)

"Reading is the basics for all learning." - (Reston, Virginia, 3/28/00)

"How do you know if you don't measure up if you have a system that simply suckles kids through?" - (Hilton Head, South Carolina, 2/16/00)

"Governor Bush will not stand for the subsidation of failure." - (Speaking of himself in the third person, Florence, South Carolina, 1/11/00)

"Rarely is the question asked, 'Is our children learning?'" - (Grand Rapids, Michigan, 1/11/00)

These were all compiled by Paul Begala in "Is our Children Learning": http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743214781/103-2155129-5256631?v=glance

MoveOn ad--a deep voice says "George Bush says the rich don't pay their fair share of taxes", then show a clip of Bush saying "you know how the rich is, they've got accountants".

(Bet he didn't have to learn that bit of wisdom from Unca Dick, either)

15. This must be addressed for Kerry to triumph
"THE PRESIDENT: Senator Kerry tried to explain his vote this way: I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it. (Laughter.) End quote. (Laughter.) Now, he's offering different explanations. At one time he said he was proud that he and his running mate voted against the funding for the troops. And then he said: The whole thing is a complicated matter. (Laughter.) There's nothing complicated about supporting our troops in combat. (Applause.)

In one paragraph he is able to (wrongly) but effectively portray Kerry as an intellectual and ineffective, callous "politician" while identifying himself with the audience.

Better get on it Kerry. The mantra is repeated in every town he visits.

18. I saw him say that on the CBS Evening News
It was the most bizarre and incoherent statement I've heard in quite some time - but then again, I usually turn Bushy off after thre words.

"The rich have accountants."

If I'm not mistaken, that should be the Kerry campaign slogan. What an asshat Bush is.

42. Shrubya was trying, in his own DELIGHTFUL and CHARMING way,
to make the point that if Kerry tried to increase the tax burden on the wealthy, this would essentially result in more taxes on the middle class, because those rascals, the wealthy (1,000 dollar bills falling out of his jacket) hire their devious accountants and don't pay taxes, so the burden will wind up being on Joe Farmer and Small Biz owner.

It's mind boggling in so many ways.

First of all, he is trying to pass a statement like this off as a justification of his economic policy!

Secondly, it says something about his base, and himself, since, last I checked, they were all pretty rich.

If I don't see a Kerry campaign ad featuring this I will be sorely pissed.

Jon Stewart/Daily Show, where are you?

i saw that either it was a typical bush mis-saying, or it implied that rich people schemed their way out of taxes...which is, as you said, a pretty outrageous thing to say for him. so i was...quite confused...

bush trying to be populist while insulting his base....what a thought.

This is without a doubt the most scripted presidency I have ever witnessed. For an administration and a political party that seems to decry Hollywood, they are definitely mired in cheap theatrics.

You can watch and hear him in all his moronic glory. I especially love the part where he says he spent time today talking to some workers. Says they are worried about their jobs. They are concerned. Bush says "So am I." Ha ha ha.
