On Friday morning, I along with about 100-150 other Kerry supporters gathered along a local highway overpass (in Brewster, NY) to see the Kerry Campaign Bus pass through our city. Even though the bus just passed through, I can't tell you what a nice time it was- meeting with my fellow Kerry supporters, getting to know each other, nice conversations- it was great. And the reaction from drivers on the road was amazing, to me- this is a Republican area of Upstate NY, and I would say that about 80% of reactions that we got were very positive. People were honking their horns, smiling at us, giving us thumbs up- a couple even rolled down their windows, in traffic, and asked us "Is he really coming through here?". Sure, we had a 20% negative reaction (nothing too obscene, people yelling "Vote Bush" and the like), but like I said- in a Republican area, I was very pleasantly surprised by the turnout and the overwhelming positive reaction we and our signs got. A local news crew even came out to film us. And if I may say- the bus is NICE, absolutely beautiful. Try to go out and see it if it passes through your area, show your support.
