Had a daughter in Eugene awhile back (okay, almost 36 years ago!) so have a real fondness for that town. Kerry and Edwards there--icing on the cake! A lovely drive over the Cascades and along the McKenzie River highway, then seeing the two Johns--a great day in anyone's book. Hell, I'd even go to Portland!

And I recognized in your pictures the Secret Service guy who flipped out on the balconies in Harrisburg when he noticed some stairways weren't being adequately guarded. From my standpoint, he overreacted, but I was comfortable knowing the campaign was being scrupulously protected.

OTOH, my husband at the hotel, waiting for the entourage's baggage, felt that venue wasn't adequately nut-proofed. Believe it or not, there was a Wizard of Oz con there this weekend. Still, local media didn't know where the campaign was spending the night and suggested they'd be at the governor's residence.
