Did anyone see that engraged freeper-type on CBS Evening News tonight?
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 12:21 AM by rumguy
They were covering an anti-Iraq war protest that was put on by soldiers who had gotten back from Iraq. Family members were also present.

It was peaceful and seemed like a reasonable group of people.

Then this enraged, frothing at the mouth moran intruded. He was your typical Bushbot - short cropped hair, chest stuck out, and real thick skulled.

He started yelling at the people gathered. He has a son in the Navy or something, but it was his own son who had to drag him away.

He was on the verge of physical violence. He was full of that lame self-righteous right wing rage that lashes out without thought and without foundation.

People were holding him back. I wish I was at that rally. I would have gotten in his face and told him I thought he was way out of line.

I'm sure he would have taken a swing at me. Good. Then I could have taken him down and made him regret that decision for the rest of his life. I would have enjoyed that - immensly.

3. It would have been self-defense
And yes I would have left a permanet scar somewhere on his face. He would have learned a lesson.

10. I understand your feelings but
any kind of violence at a PEACE demonstration is best avoided for what should be obvious reasons.

2. I saw that too
A tough guy threatening the little old lady not to touch him. What a tool.

5. I believe the "little old lady" was the mother of a dead soldier.
It really was sickening to watch. The mother handled it very well, though. She didn't let the rage infect her. She stayed focused on the real issues.

(This is not to say I wasn't appalled by the unhinged behavior of the guy. I don't think anyone could watch that segment and not be. It's not bad that CBS is showing such behavior for what it is.)

8. Poor deluded soul
He 'has' to believe that his son is fighting for the protesters' freedom in order to justify his being there. They are fighting for no such thing.

Notice the ones for the war and reenlisting are the ones still alive.

6. Too bad it won't play.
I keep on getting the screen that wants me to download Real Player, even though I already had it on my computer, and when I download it again the friggin thing still wants me to download.

Oh, well. Once again I get more crap on my hard drive that I won't know how to get rid of.

7. Hatriot

I like the term Hatriot, as coined by Micheal Moore, to describe these guys. That's exactly what they are and it's scary to think they vote.

9. I watched the clip. I have to confess.
I become unhinged when it comes to my kids. I don't blame the man for being angry and worried about HIS SON...I do blame him for NOT UNDERSTANDING what the protests and OUR message is about.

I have a younger daughter who served (to our surprise),right out of high school, in the Army and went straight to P.GulfI. I was in agony with worry. I had a hair trigger for ANYONE who didn't support the troops. The situation was different then. Now, we have a war based on lies and run by a lunatic with many, many more people having been killed or abused.

I have a suggestion for those uninformed or bellicose types who INSIST that protesting the war is disrespecting the troops:

BRING HOME THE TROOPS WHO DON'T WANT TO BE THERE ANYMORE AND LET THE OTHER ONES STAY!

12. That guy was totally out of control
and the way he kept 'getting in the face' of the woman who had lost her son over there was really ridiculous, he should feel embarrassed when he sees himself. x(

14. Welcome Iraq Veterans Against The War!
The real story there...this group just formed last week and the curtain of silence could be broken. There are a lot of vets who've returned from Iraq who are staying silent lest they are called traitors...and it's excellent to see they have a forum now to do so.

I didn't notice, has anyone found a website for these folks? We need to support them as they speak a very important voice. They KNOW what happened, know what's happening and have been under gag orders and more so this story doesn't get out.

Bring these folks to a high school auditorium or anywhere you have a large group of parents with 16-20 year old kids and this regime will regret the day they started this fraudulent invasion.

15. reminds me exactly of the vietnam war era arguments
i witnessed this during the late 60's, and, it was on c.b.s. people screaming at each other in the streets, saying exactly the same words.

my son died in vietnam and i want the troops home now. my son is in baghdad and protesters are hurting our boys in the theater of war.

all the same bullshit screaming points, all the same polarization and angst. deja fucking vu
