A far-fetched, but feasible idea for Texans
I've never been in the state, so I should be one of the last people talking, but would you think there is any possibility that the libertarian Ron Paul would be convinced to campaign for Richard Morrison?

If that doesn't work out, maybe someone can convince Olympia Snowe or Lincoln Chaffee to head out on a quick junket. I think it'd open many people's eyes to see a national Repub Senator campaigning against DeLay, like I heard John Warner did against Oliver North.

3. That man is the 2nd most powerful public figure in the country
I won't be satisfied until there's swarms of House Democrats and some Republicans in Sugar Land hell bent on defeat. While we're at it, we can even try to convince that R. Lee Ermey guy from the History Channel to lend a hand....if he isn't a rethug that is. :)

If they want party money and backing when they come up for reelection, they have to toe the line. That's how the Roach has been keeping the moderates in his own party voting the wingnut way.

I'm honestly thinking the only hope we have in ridding the country of this man is through all those pending lawsuits and trials. Only when he's hauled out in shackles will we be rid of him.

(edited because I'm the DU typo queen)

4. I don't live in TX either
but I doubt it would be possible to get any republicans to campaign against DeLay, since he's so powerful.

The GOP party establishment doesn't like the moderates already so I doubt they'd risk being further alienated from the party.

If it would happen though, it'd be great. BTW welcome to DU :toast:

5. Maybe Ron Paul would do it
Your's is an unorthodox idea, having a former Libertarian turned GOP campaign for a Democrat. But, I like it.

Ron Paul doesn't seem to have much respect for the GOP and I think he's too idealistic to be intimidated by Delay. Maybe he'd do it.

7. Texans wouldn't like Snowe or Chaffee
While they are moderate GOPs, they are Northern "liberals" to Texans.
I am not sure about DeLay's district, but I think Sheila Jackson Lee would be a bigger help. Texans are very clannish about being from Texas. Ron Paul, Jim Hightower, and Molly Ivins might help.

Last I heard, Morrison was doing okay. It was a week or two ago, when the DeLay indictments were front and center.
