I need some help finding out more about the men who served with Kerry.....
On another message board someone has posted the link for the swift boat captains against Kerry and is saying that the men who were on stage w/Kerry at the convention did not serve with Kerry. I need any links you may have or other info that might be helpful, thanks.

1. Oh Sweet Bleedin' Jeebus on a Garage Creeper...
Didn't serve with him? My GHOD! Are delusional states and developmental disabilities THAT prevelent in the general population?

You can bet your ass and baggage that ANYTHING like this is coming out of Ted Sampley. Just google the name and learn. As vile a nutbar as has ever walked the earth. Someone who is crying out for the ass kicking he so richly deserves.

2. what for? That's not an issue. Let's discuss what kerry will DO for OUR
country instead.

Why play the gop lies and attack game? What a waste of time! No point in pursuing it, let them prove the guys weren't and just laugh at their desperation.

Put the gop freaks n liars on the defensive. Ask them to show you all the guys who served with BUSH.

4. They DID serve with Kerry.
the men who are against him DID NOT. They were rounded up by tricky Dick and have been after Kerry for 30 years.

Here is more info

And the money quote from McCain:

Senator John McCain, Republican, Press Release Issued, 13 February 2004, to The New York Times and Other National News Media

VVA-JK Organizer Ted Sampley Attacked
"I strongly caution reporters who may be contacted by or are interested in Mr. Ted Sampley and the various organizations he claims to represent, and his opinions on the subject of Senator Kerry, or any subject for that matter, to investigate thoroughly Mr. Sampley's background and history of spreading outrageous slander and other disreputable behavior before inadvertently lending him or his allegations any credibility.

"I am well familiar with Mr. Sampley, and I know him to be one of the most despicable people I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I consider him a fraud who preys on the hopes of family members of missing servicemen for his own profit. He is dishonorable, an enemy of the truth, and despite his claims, he does not speak for or represent the views of all but a few veterans. The many veterans I know would think it a disgrace to be considered a comrade or supporter of Ted Sampley."

6. I wouldn't even bother to show them different as they will only....
...then find something else to lie about. People like that don't care about the truth only their narrow partisian interests.

9. Historian Douglas Brinkley wrote a whole book about them, Tour of Duty.
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 10:34 AM by blm
I suggest you check it out or even at least some synopsis of the book.

The trouble with the vets against Kerry information is that they served at around the same time he did but none of them actually served WITH him in combat. They are using a group photo of all the commanders of the boats at the time and confusing the gullible to believe they fought in combat together. They did not. It's a DELIBERATE tactic insulting to its audience in that they KNOW they are distorting the facts to fit their agenda.

The men who were on that stage with Kerry were the ACTUAL crew members of two boats he commanded and the ACTUAL men who fought alongside him in combat.

10. Please post what you've learned from checking out Brinkley's work.
I am sure it must have addressed all your concerns in great detail.

11. In case you still need help, here's a short synopsis
of his injuries. Would love to hear how the detractors want to spin shrapnel wounds into self-inflicted injuries. Please let us know.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kerry#Kerry.27s_tour_of_duty_as_commander_of_a_Swift_Boat

"On December 2, 1968, Kerry and his crew encountered Viet Cong forces on Cam Ranh Bay, and Kerry suffered a minor shrapnel wound in the left arm above the elbow from an enemy M-79 grenade. Dr. Louis Letson, treated Kerry by removing the shrapnel and apply bacitracin dressing. For his combat injuries, Kerry was awarded his first Purple Heart and returned to duty soon afterward."

"Kerry earned a second Purple Heart when his left thigh was hit with shrapnel on the Bo De River on February 28, 1969. Again, Kerry's minor injury was treated and he promptly returned to duty...Kerry still has shrapnel in his left thigh because doctors decided to removed damaged tissue and close the wound with sutures rather than make an wide opening to remove the shrapnel."

"On March 13, Kerry's boat hit a mine as his position took heavy fire. His wounds included bruising and contusions from hitting the bulkhead, which was treated with warm soaking, and several shrapnel wounds in his left upper buttock, which was treated with a tetanus shot, topical lotion and an bandage. He spent two days out of service while recovering"
