I DON'T think there will be another attack: here's my uninformed opinion
I don't think there's going to be another terrorist attack on the United States, and here's why:

1) BushCo got everything they wanted. The whole purpose of stealing the election, going to war, etc. was not to get a hold of POWER, but to get a hold of MONEY. Now that they own Iraq's oil and infrastructure, they can insure that all their stockholders and buddies (who were ALREADY rich; we're dealing with a serious wealth addiction here) are rich and happy. There was no ideology involved, just greed. Now that they've succeeded in fucking everything up in the process, they can go away for a while and plot the next temporary coup.

2) Throwing the election for Kerry will insure that the Democrats will be the ones responsible for cleaning up the mess. The media, owned by republican think tanks, will help sail Kerry to victory in November; already Fox has toned down the anti-Dem rhetoric a bit. Once in, Kerry will be so busy spinning plates and plugging holes in the dams he'll have no time to pursue making BushCo accountable.

3) Another terror attack before the election will make BushCo look BAD in the eyes of the American people. Bush knows the jig is up, just like his dad did (remember the famous "yawn" during the 92 Town Hall Debate? GHWB was just waiting for the election to be over so that he could go fishing and count his loot) and he'll go quietly, knowing that he did Halliburton proud. Another terror attack, and suddenly George W. Bush will have to endure another four years of press conferences.

4) I'm just as conspiracy minded as the "tinfoil brigade" here, but staging another terror attack is just not good form if BushCo's goal is to maintain a plausible facade. LIHOP's success depends on a lack of transparency; this membrane of innocence has been breached. A LOT of people know what really went down on 9/11/01; there's even a hit rap song that mentions it. Another conveniently timed terror attack, after the media brou-haha about postponing elections, F9/11, etc. and the people will turn on Bush, not re-elect him.

5) The CIA is back in control, after having ben temporarily overshadowed by the OSP. The CIA will not allow another terror attack on US soil to occur- it's bad for business.

Now....I understand that I'm not privy to information that other Duers may have, and that I may be just very naive. But I just don't think that this supposed major terror thing is gonna happen.

1. the PNAC grab for power was just as strong as the money grab
the PNAC guys have no intention of leaving power now that they have it...not in november, not ever. this isnt tinfoil hat stuff...it's what they say themselves on their website.

3. Here's another reason there won't be an attack
UBL doesn't want one. Why unseat the President that has given him everything he ever wanted. We invaded a Muslim country, as he said we would. The world hates us, plays into his hands. Bush* is the best terrorist recruitment tool UBL ever had--better than anything he could have wanted in his wildest dreams. I see RNC B/C'04 election materials plastered all over his cave. That's why I don't think there will be another attack.

But Asscroft wants us to THINK there will be another attack. Nothing like fear to keep the sheep herded. I think DOJ is behind all the terror threats leaked to the media.

That's what I think.

4. Right: both BushCo and the terrorists got what they wanted.
Lingering would be bad form and give the game away.

5. there won't be another attack for the same reason WMDs weren't planted
they would be caught. And the long-term costs/risks (not just losing the presidency - but losing the ability to EVER win seats again and comeback in future years) FAR outweigh the gain.

There is too much public skepticism. There are now folks in the media who are asking questions and digging. They would be found out and permanently out of power. We were caught off-guard by the first attacks - and their slow rolling out of the propoganda... using the fear factor... allowed for public manipulation per the war in IRaq. They have been unable to sustain the kind of controlspin that they used for a year after 911 (remember the "they knew" story broke... and after 3 days of disarray the rove machine had retaken control of the media storylines...) The best they can do is keep the fear factor high... and maybe hope for an alleged threat big enough to postpone elections (I don't think that will happen either, as even on the right there is HUGE skepticism about that line of rhetoric push.)
