He remembers how foolish HE looked (him more than the administration) when shortly after the "Bush Knew" story broke they started issuing alert after alert... and then subsequent alerts seemed politically timed... and public opinion reflected this view - add to that how silly the duct tape thing looked (esp after he blurted out that the idea had been approved of... not by safety experts - but by... wait for it... FOCUS GROUPS!) Enough time has gone by that he isn't universally viewed as a fool and a tool (though he is by us)... bet that tons of this is planned and he doesn't want to have his long lasting legacy image be as toolmantom.

Right now, New York and D.C. are under "Orange Alert". Doing a "region by region" alerting sets the satage for the following:

1) Red Alert in New York with full out martial law just before the RNC. Back to Orange Alert just after.
2) Orange Alert in L.A., San Francisco, Chicago, and all heavily liberal urban areas in the country in bits and pieces throughout September and October.
3) Entire nation on Orange Alert last week of October. All Orange Alert areas go to red alert November 1 with full out martial law. No voting happens in urban areas.
4) Bush* wins in a "landslide" because the urban areas do not have even 10% voter turnout.

22. I've lived in the middle of Ground Zero...

for years, so red alert is just the normal state affairs. We have a mountain full of WMDs at the edge of the city (Albuquerque, NM), a national lab in the city and one north in Los Alamos, and to many damn weapons industrialist in the city. I have always accepted that there would be a day when it all blows up, and no one would remain on earth. I blame the U.S. for this. Their puny red, orange, or what code is just a joke. Until they remove all the nukes and nuke waste from the land of my ancestors as well as all the other nukes buried other's land of their ancestors, we all live in danger.
