Breaking "Cheney is out" update: Coleman in?
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 12:50 PM by Krupskaya
WCCO in Minnesota is reporting that St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly will be endorsing George Bush at a press conference this afternoon (Sunday).

Randy Kelly is a DFLer. Excuse me, a DINO.

Follow the dots. Kelly (who while a DFLer, was a handpicked replacement for Coleman when he was mayor) endorses Bush. Switches parties. Gets Coleman's seat when Coleman is picked to replace Cheney. Everybody's happy.

THEY WON'T GET MINNESOTA. NO MATTER WHAT THEY TRY.

I wish I had a link but I just heard it on the radio.

2. This isn't an LBN thread
It's just pure speculation. LBN should have an article linked with it. Title has to be title of article.

20. You said it.
There is that video clip of him saying he's a "Wellstone democrat" *shudders* and I think there is some real nasty scuttle butt around, I've only heard snippits of it so I wont speculate. Norm is a 1st class weasle and I think he might eventually be out of a job if Kerry can win MN, even if Franken wont run.

6. Thanks, mod...
...for moving it. I didn't realize the story needed a link; since I heard it on the radio, and WCCO itself labeled it "breaking," I figured that was good enough.

Besides, anyone from MN knows that a St. Paul mayor endorsing a repub is certainly breaking, if not a sign of the impending apocalypse.

8. Don't know what a "DFLer" or "DINO" are. All these nicknames
are getting confusing.

I opened one post several days ago, and I swear I didn't even understand what the guy was saying. It looked like, "RJELA does rlrei! NK! daidpa! dfjajlirejia. And then fdlai said, "FDFD FWRE WTF fdajifdai." I thought, "HUH?"

11. DFL equals the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party
It's a Minnesota thing.

A DINO is a Democrat in name only. Example: Zell Miller.

BTW, if Coleman did replace Cheney, it would sort of be like taking off one pair of dirty socks and putting on another one. Coleman gives me the galloping creepies.

14. Here's a start...
Two devastating Salon.com articles by Garrison Keillor

"Empty victory for a hollow man
How Norm Coleman sold his soul for a Senate seat."

http://www.salon.com/politics/feature/2002/11/07/minnesota/index_np.html

And from another:
"The old GOP of fiscal responsibility and principled conservatism and bedrock Main Street values is gone, my dear, and something cynical has taken its place. Thus the use of Iraq as an election ploy, openly, brazenly, from the president and Karl Rove all the way down to Norman Coleman, who came within an inch of accusing Wellstone of being an agent of al-Qaida. To do that one day and then, two days later, to feign grief and claim the dead Wellstone's mantle and carry on his "passion and commitment" is simply too much for a decent person to stomach. It goes beyond the ordinary roughhouse of politics. To accept it and grin and shake the son of a bitch's hand is to ignore what cannot be ignored if you want your grandchildren to grow up in a country like the one that nurtured and inspired you. I would rather go down to defeat with the Democrats I know than go oiling around with opportunists of Coleman's stripe, and you can take that to the bank."

http://www.salon.com/politics/feature/2002/11/13/coleman/index_np.html

You'll click on the Salon Day Pass to read these articles, but it's well worth the few seconds it takes.

From Clinton-supporting Dem to Bush stooge.

But I guess the GOP can get away with it, since they own the media.

Although I wouldn't mind watching Edwards beat the crap out of Coleman in a debate.

28. Bush said the other day that Cheney is in
unless he has a heart attack he will be the VP candidate - now I guess that is always possible - but personally I don't see this guy giving up his power - and he probably knows where all the Bush skeletons are burried - so they are not likely to cross him.
